Hello folks. I'm building my first AR. I have the lower and the buttstock. I still need the upper barrel and hand guard, and complete bolt assembly. I want a flat top upper, 20" barrel (preferably chrome), duel or quad rail if possible and at least single rail gas block. I'm on a budget roughly $400-500. Ive already found and picked out the YHM QDS sights. Del-ton runs roughly $450 model 1 runs $520 . Do you have any suggestions on where else to look for a good deal. Will be using the gun for plinking, SHTF, home defense, and maybe some coyote hunting.

I have built using Del-ton kits, and they are nicely finished.

Buy a complete upper so you don't have to spend money on tools to assemble parts.

IMO.. you should consider saving a little longer and and going with true quality instead of price you it will truly be a "SHTF, home defense" rifle.

LMT, Noveske, KAC, BCM, Colt, etc. are all going to top end, and you can't go wrong with any of them.

just my $0.02 ;)

I have ordered from Bravo Company USA, PK Firearms, and Global-Tactical, Aim Surplus for a couple of my builds and have been pleased with them.

I've also used Bravo Company and GTI, and I'll suggest Rainier Arms as well, they've done really well by me.

For my first build (20" A2), I went with Del-Ton and after some initial break-in problems, that rifle has run very well.

CMMG will build just about any upper configuration you request, and will be considerably higher on the quality spectrum than M1S or Delton.
