I am currently building a race gun and am looking for advice concerning optics on a 1911-type single stack .45 ACP. I have a B-square mount installed already and not sure about what kind of scope or red dot i should get.

While I think a single stack in 45 is the 100% wrong choice for an open class racegun, C-More is about the best choice for an optic.

The dust cover is quite a bit thinner on most 1911's, the double stack sti's and svi's are thicker thus better for drilling/tapping and hanging stuff off of. What game are you playing in that a ss 45 is the right choice?

+1 on the *** a 45 open gun... but hey to each their own...
I have used both an Aimpoint & a Cmore - the Cmore seems to give me less "tunnel-vision." When I shoot a tube type red dot I seem to lose my peripheral vision but I don't with the Cmore. Good luck & lets see some pics when you are done!

1990 just called!

I still have my old Springfield comped .45. I had a PDP-2 on it. Shot 155gr bullets to make the comp work and make power factor. I turned it in to a limited ten after the supers came along.

I believe the C-More is the dot of choice today.

Good Luck.

C-more is the choice..
even with the 1911 dustcover..it will hold no problem..
