Any suggestions for a spotting scope to see .22 bullet holes at 200 yards? Want to keep it under $550 if possible.

I recently purchased the 20-60 80mm Vortex Diamondback. It lists for $499 and the price is pretty firm across the web. However, B&H has it with a Vortex tripod and a $25 gift card for that price. link:<https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...0a1_diamondback_20_60x80_spotting_scope.html>

I can easily see .223 holes at 100 yds and can read 1/4 inch high print on the targets. It comes with flip up objective cover, screw on aluminum cover for the eyepiece, and a fitted cover that can be left in place when mounted on the tripod and used. I like it.

Thanks, I am looking at Vortex and Nikon. Also considering the Celestron Regal line.

i know of a few that you will really love but the price tags is a little over your request

First thing to do is make your holes easier to see. Shoot-n-see targets are great for that, especially when it's hot or if your injured/disabled. Once your hole glows against its background you have it whooped. Anything works at that point.

And if your feeling like going super cheap, I bought a Barska spotter for 30 bucks a few years ago. It's pretty stinkin good for the money and has survived plenty abuse. My next spotter will be of higher quality, but it certainly won't be 500 bucks.

For good glass at a reasonable price call SWFA. They might have some good used glass for great prices, that's my first stop when scope shopping now.

I bought this Celestron Ultima 80 with a shooters tripod for $100 at a garage sale a few years ago.

At 20X to 25X, I can easily see flies crawling on tree trunks 200 yards away. Like all variable power spotting scopes, image sharpness degrades as power goes up. T-ring Adapters are available to mount Canon and Nikon 35 mm SLR cameras (film or digital) on it making the scope equal to a 1000 mm to 1250 mm lens at that power range.

I have a 50+ year old Swift 15-60x60mm and couldn't see the .308 holes in the black paper at 200yds. I stuck on a 12" Shoot-n-See and bingo.
