I am looking for a target/varmint scope for my .308, 700 varmint special.I am eyeing the 6x-24x44mm Burris Signature Series scope.

Does anyone out there have any experience with this scope or any Burris series scopes?

I like the leupolds...but I want the black instead of matte black finish and the Burris caught my eye.

Thanks a bunch...Paul

I don't have experience with that particular model. But I've owned several Burris scope through the years and find them to be great scopes. They have great customer service and offer a full lifetime warranty just like Leupold.

and their optics are better... At least, the Black Diamond series optics smokes the Leupold Vari-X III's and is a bit better than the M1's. Repeatability is consistent, and CS is good. No complaints at all. Sold all 3 of my Leupolds and replaced them with BD's.

While I haven't sold my Leupolds: the fullfield II IS better than a vari-X II. and the Signiture series 1.75-6 I have is better than a VariX III.

Thanks a mill fellas. All your input about burris sounds like a winner to me!
Thanks!

The only gripe I have about the Black Diamond is that the magnification ring and ocular bell are one piece. (The ocular focus is a seperate ring.)When you dial up/down magnification, you also rotate the bell. Not a big issue unless you use a lens cover like Butler Creek's and have the scope mounted low. With the cover open, moving the mag ring also moves the cap. The receiver/action would usually obstruct the movement and/or the cap blocks peripheral view.

You mean Beretta hasn't straightened out Burris' customer service now that they own them?

That was a joke. Beretta = excellent customer service, get it? Nevermind. Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

John
