I am in the process of designing my own 50bmg and am having trouble finding a buttpad that will fit. With my receiver tube being 2.25" diameter outside, that means my buttplate is 2.25" wide. The widest buttpad I have found is the Limbsaver large grind-to-fit at 2.06 wide. So I guess what I am curious about is, does anyone know of a blank piece of rubber (6"x6" or so) that I can cut my own buttpad out of? Ideally, something 1"-1.50" thick and I would like something fairly soft to absorb some of the 50's recoil. Any help would be appreciated!

Kick-Eez pads are made of solid sorbothane material on a hard polymer base without air pockets like Limbsaver, might contact Kick-Eez as air channels would not have to be cut.

Thanks guys, I may get ahold of both of them. I was looking at the Kick-Eez as well but didn't find anything big enough either. I also looked on ebay for sorbothane sheets but the thickest I could find was .75", I would like something a little thicker than that. Thanks again!

With a little contact cement you could easily laminate to the needed thickness

I have several long guns on which I put recoil pads cut out of flip flop shower shoes. I take the butt plate off and glue them on with a good rubber cement. They are not hard to remove with a good sliceing knife. I have a Remington 30-06 that was the first one I tried. It is still in pretty good shape and has been on that rifle for about 30 years. You can stack them up for thickness.
