After doing considerable research here and elsewhere I decided a Taurus PT145 is what I want.
The Taurus website lists the Millineum Pro as having a DA/SA trigger and Heinie Straight 8 sights.

My dealer uses Davidsons as his distributor, what they have in stock according to the website and the paper the dealer gave me are DAO with three dot sights.

I'm confused; Is the Davidsons description wrong or do they not stock the same gun I'm looking at from Taurus?
The price on the Davidsons site is MSRP, I'm getting it for $350 out the door.

That is last year's model of the Millennium Pro PT145. Many prefer the DAO model...I, for one do. Excellent choice no matter which one you get.

It's perfectly normal to be confused with the Taurus Millennium/Millennium Pro line.

For a while folks were getting the new SA/DA Mil Pros with the Heinie sights while the outdated Taurus website had the info listed as the DAO 3-dot sight model.

Now Taurus has changed the info, but its a crapshoot to know which model a dealer is actually carrying unless they can tell you about the specific gun or have it in hand.

So you could be getting an older DAO 3-dot if the papers and Davidson's website are actually current, but I suspect it's just outdated info and that it's going to be a factory new SA/DA model with the Heinie sights.

I have one of each, and I think both are great.

Went to another dealer, one I usually avoid but he's listed on the Taurus website as a dealer.
This is one of those shops that's dimly lit, bunch of good ole boys hogging the counter that grow silent when someone new walks in - you know the place.
Anyway, after noticing there was hardly anything on display I told the owner what I was after.

"I can order it".
Told him OK, kinda wanted to check one out and get the feel of it.

"I can't be stocking a whole bunch of guns just so people can come in and feel 'em!" (This guy has been in business over thirty years. It's a wonder.)

So he looks in his latest Taurus catalog and can't find a PT145. I look and don't see one either. He insists that its a new model that hasn't made the catalog yet.

"Damn gun makers do that all the time ya know, brag something up they don't even have in production yet"
(Did I mention he's been in business over thirty years? Amazing.)

Told him I'd be back. I will, but only for reloading supplies; he has the only game in town for that stuff.

I recently purchased the newer PT145 Millennium Pro with the DA/SA trigger and the light rail. Generally speaking, unless the trigger pull on DAO pistols is fairly light and smooth, I don't shoot them very well - so that's why I didn't seek one of the older DAO PT145s.

Be advised that the DA/SA trigger on this pistol is somewhat of a misnomer... the only time the trigger is in the DA mode is if/when a round fails to fire. Unless there is an ammunition problem, the first shot thru the last shot are all fired SA.

I paid $310 plus tax.

I've never used the Heinie straight eight sights, is there any advantage to having them over the three dots?

Over at the www.unitedforums.com (click on Taurus Forum) there is just such a thread. Seems that a small number over there are having slight problems with the straight eights sight or others who have the 3 dot sights and are happy with them. May be just a preference or could be a real problem. Couldn't say since I have vey brief experience with them as in trying a friends pistol. My friend swears by the straight eight and my vision, being suspect, would not use them. For you I cannot say. Good luck.
