Got started reloading some 7mm rem mag. I have the Lee Breech Lock press kit. Lee dies. The Hornady 7th edition handloading book. Shows a c.o.l. for the 162 SST grain bullet to be 3.290". After seating a few bullets the c o l ranges from 3.289 to 3.294 . Will the ones that are over 3.290 be a problem?
Trim case lenght is 2.493"

The seating stem in your die is going off the bullet ogive, not the bullet tip where you are measuring.
There is enough variation between bullets to cause that much OAL variation when measuring from bullet-tip to case-head.

Actual length variation when measured from the ogive is probably very near the same on all of them.

You need a comparator to accurately measure that.

It shouldn't hurt anything as the bullet bases are probably all the same depth in the cases.

Nope. You're fine. The slight variation is because you seat the bullet with the ogive, but you're measuring COL from the tip.

As long as they'll fit in your rifles magazine, you're GTG.

EDIT: Dang RC, can't I just answer ONE question first?:D Looks like you posted while I was typing.

For the heck of it... Measure the length of the bullets. The bullet only. Some do vary.
