Decided a couple of days ago that I am going to apply for my C & R, well went to the BATF web site and filled out the lisc. form request, and today I got a letter from them stating that their C & R Lisc. forms are on backorder and will be shipped out when they are rec. in. Only with the US federal Gov. will they send you a pc of paper to tell you a different pc of paper is on backorder! I wonder how long it will take them to get "all backorders filled"?

The first rule of government service is to cover your posterior with paper.

My wife and I are in the process of adopting internationally and we had the horrifying experience of receiving a letter saying our application for a visa for our child could take up to 18 months to process ... followed two days later by notification that the visa application had been approved.

There's probably a similar dynamic at work in BATFE's C&R Licensing department.

Whats the link to order the C&R forms?

I let my license expire a couple years back and I'm getting the itch again.

Especially sad when they used to offer to let you print the forms from the website but did away with that. Talk about taking a step backwards.

Just got my C&R forms yesterday, just took two weeks on BO for the feds to get me a couple of pcs of papers. But then again for the fed, that seems to be pretty good service.

I think you are right, my sons and myself have been scouring the internet C&R dealers to see what we want and the list is quickly becoming quite extensive.

Just go my C & R in the mail today. I will run off some copies tomorrow and send out to get the ball rolling. Actually was not that long a wait after getting my papers, took just a little under a month. Not bad considering I am dealing with the Fed. Gov.

I have not found anything state or local that would be a problem for me to C&R. Just cuts out some red tape, and some of the middle men.

I have always received excellent and timely service from the ATF when ordering forms or when I contact them with general questions. Not really what I expected when I started interacting with them a little over a year ago.

On the other hand, does the fact that they're out of C&R forms mean that more and more people are applying for C&R's? Hopefully the field doesn't get too crowded... ;)
