Got my car back, so I get to go. Woo-hoo! The above dates work for me, unemployment allows for mucho time flexibility. Just don't advance it to the weekend BEFORE, (23rd-4th.) as I'm visiting a buddy up in Eureka and bringing back a box of treasure he garage-saled up for me whilst antique-ing. (Some $50-$100 worth of assorted factory ammunition he scared up for something like $20, which he's passing on to me
gratis. We should all have friends like these.)
Combat Wombat, I don't have a Model 19, but I've always wanted to shoot one. So, I propose this. You can shoot anything I've got, whether I shoot your M-19 or not, but I need a bit of help...
I have a selection problem. I offer a .44 Mountain Gun, a 6" GP-100, a modified Mk. IV Webley, a .45 ACP Broomhandle Mauser, an Astra 600 9mm Para., a 1066 S&W 10mm, and a Heritage Stealth .40. (Provided I've got ammo lying around, of course. I think I have most of that. I KNOW I've got .44, .45 and 9mm.)
I wish I had some .357 Sig so I could bring the Glock 32. Plinking with defense ammo costs too much, and I can't replace it right now. Nertz. If I could root up the .40 barrel for it, (Acquiring the .40 barrel for free is why I bought it.) I'd bring it instead of the Stealth, but the barrel's buried too deep.
For rifles I've got Remington M-81 Woodsmaster autoloader in .300 Savage, a Colt Lightning .44-40 pump rifle, and a Trapdoor Springfield .45-70.
And of course, The Monster derringer. (It's FUN to shoot. Really! The pain doesn't last long at all.)
These are just the guns I have lying around within easy reach. I won't bring 'em ALL. If you have a preference, tell me now. I'm trying to bring just 5 guns, but somehow I can NEVER manage it.
If I go to storage, all bets are off. Other weird stuff will show up, subject to the ammo supply. If anyone's got some .30 Carbine, say so, (I think I'm about out, and I'm broke, so no buying ammo for me.) I'll bring my nice-'n-reliable Automag III. (This gun is addictive. Careful! Shoot your Carbine FIRST, or you won't at all.) If I can scare up a box of commercial .308, the S.A.S.S. Hand Rifle will come along. Prolly bring the Steyr-Hahn too. Got a couple spare boxes of 9mm Largo handy.
Could bring the ol' '97 Winchester. Got lots o' 12-guage. Could use a few pointers on skeetables, as I'm a miserable shotgunner with the tightly-choked long-barreled 1907-vintage hammer-pumper. And the Herculese similarly-configured Stevens-esque single-shot. I suffer from a large lack of experience, to wit, I've shot the thing(s) all of twice.
I dunno. So many guns, so little time. Last time I had guns I didn't even get to. I tried really hard to trim it down, and I had, uh..., 8? 9 guns? Something like that. Regardless, whatever I show up with is fair game for anyone to shoot with very little asking. In fact, if you so much as ask what it is, I'll probably MAKE you shoot it, so don't be shy. I live to share.
(Hmmm. E.G. Makarov, or the PA-63? Colt 1903 or the CZ-50? S&W M-36, or the Police Positive Special? Wait! I found my half-moon clips! I can bring the Mk. I Webley instead of the Mk. IV! And should I grab the MAS 36 bolt gun, or the ultra-stylish Mannlicher-stocked Mexican Mauser? How can I bring only 5 guns? Maybe if I just bring 5 calibers. Ohh, decisions, decisions, I think I'm getting a headache...)
