Alright, its time to get the 'lead' out and have another Bay Area shoot. I promise to post pictures and movies from the last get together before we meet again. ;) No, really!

What date ranges work good for you guys? I'm still biased toward Los Altos because its so darn scenic there, they let us shoot pop cans, and jugs up to a gallon filled with water, and, frankly, it's worked well the last two get togethers.

So, what weekend days are open for y'all in the next, oh, 60 days or so? Saturday or Sunday? Speak now....

History for the uninitiated (including videos of stuff blowing up):

Bay Area Shoot, April 19, 2003

Bay Area Shoot, June 7, 2003

The weekend of Sept. 7 won't work for me; Mom's B-day and I'm a good son and all that.

But don't let me hold you back, if the 7th works for everone else... that's ok... *sniff*... no really... you gone on and have fun.

I may have some difficulty making the first two weekends in September, I'll probably know for sure next week.

When are you going to put up some photos from last time (nudge nudge)? :D

Any weekend in September will work for me. Of course I am up there most weekends anyway. Just let us know Saturday or Sunday.

Sounds really fun. I might try to convince my parents to drive me up there. Unfortunately, I'll only have a S&W Model 19... Can we shoot eachothers guns?

HEHE hey it doesnt have to be in Sept. It could be Aug or even Oct. :) Why not have a Halloween shoot. THR members can get dressed up as their favorite characters. :)

How do I show up as a 1911 :):neener:

getting married on 9-13... I can make it! yeah right, she'd skin me alive! show up in the tux smelling of Hoppes!
then going to grand cayman for a week, so middle of September is shot (ha ha ) labor day weekend is tough also. sorry i missed previous 2 shoots

Sept. 6-7 works for me..

Talk about a weak excuse! Getting married... I've heard THAT one before!

Just kidding. OK, how does late August look?

Sounds Good!

Much fun last time... even though I was limited to benchrest shooting, I'll love to bring along some bigger 'toys' next time;)
Got an ARA bench shoot on the 20th at Sunnyvale, otherwise clear for he rest of the Saturdays that month:cool:

Got my car back, so I get to go. Woo-hoo! The above dates work for me, unemployment allows for mucho time flexibility. Just don't advance it to the weekend BEFORE, (23rd-4th.) as I'm visiting a buddy up in Eureka and bringing back a box of treasure he garage-saled up for me whilst antique-ing. (Some $50-$100 worth of assorted factory ammunition he scared up for something like $20, which he's passing on to me gratis. We should all have friends like these.)

Combat Wombat, I don't have a Model 19, but I've always wanted to shoot one. So, I propose this. You can shoot anything I've got, whether I shoot your M-19 or not, but I need a bit of help...

I have a selection problem. I offer a .44 Mountain Gun, a 6" GP-100, a modified Mk. IV Webley, a .45 ACP Broomhandle Mauser, an Astra 600 9mm Para., a 1066 S&W 10mm, and a Heritage Stealth .40. (Provided I've got ammo lying around, of course. I think I have most of that. I KNOW I've got .44, .45 and 9mm.)

I wish I had some .357 Sig so I could bring the Glock 32. Plinking with defense ammo costs too much, and I can't replace it right now. Nertz. If I could root up the .40 barrel for it, (Acquiring the .40 barrel for free is why I bought it.) I'd bring it instead of the Stealth, but the barrel's buried too deep.

For rifles I've got Remington M-81 Woodsmaster autoloader in .300 Savage, a Colt Lightning .44-40 pump rifle, and a Trapdoor Springfield .45-70.

And of course, The Monster derringer. (It's FUN to shoot. Really! The pain doesn't last long at all.)

These are just the guns I have lying around within easy reach. I won't bring 'em ALL. If you have a preference, tell me now. I'm trying to bring just 5 guns, but somehow I can NEVER manage it.

If I go to storage, all bets are off. Other weird stuff will show up, subject to the ammo supply. If anyone's got some .30 Carbine, say so, (I think I'm about out, and I'm broke, so no buying ammo for me.) I'll bring my nice-'n-reliable Automag III. (This gun is addictive. Careful! Shoot your Carbine FIRST, or you won't at all.) If I can scare up a box of commercial .308, the S.A.S.S. Hand Rifle will come along. Prolly bring the Steyr-Hahn too. Got a couple spare boxes of 9mm Largo handy.

Could bring the ol' '97 Winchester. Got lots o' 12-guage. Could use a few pointers on skeetables, as I'm a miserable shotgunner with the tightly-choked long-barreled 1907-vintage hammer-pumper. And the Herculese similarly-configured Stevens-esque single-shot. I suffer from a large lack of experience, to wit, I've shot the thing(s) all of twice.

I dunno. So many guns, so little time. Last time I had guns I didn't even get to. I tried really hard to trim it down, and I had, uh..., 8? 9 guns? Something like that. Regardless, whatever I show up with is fair game for anyone to shoot with very little asking. In fact, if you so much as ask what it is, I'll probably MAKE you shoot it, so don't be shy. I live to share.

(Hmmm. E.G. Makarov, or the PA-63? Colt 1903 or the CZ-50? S&W M-36, or the Police Positive Special? Wait! I found my half-moon clips! I can bring the Mk. I Webley instead of the Mk. IV! And should I grab the MAS 36 bolt gun, or the ultra-stylish Mannlicher-stocked Mexican Mauser? How can I bring only 5 guns? Maybe if I just bring 5 calibers. Ohh, decisions, decisions, I think I'm getting a headache...)

;)  :D

HRG: I've got your back. Is a full bandolier (on stripper clips) enough?

Maybe we should move as a group through the stations... there were so many people, all spread out last time. At the very least, a late group lunch would be refreshing!

LEANING TOWARD THE THIRD SUNDAY - August 17th.

Thanks larryw

Maybe. Depends on how much you like shooting an accurate, longslide, stainless auto with magic balance and a superb trigger. I've gone through 100 rounds 8-at-a-time quite easily. Shooting the A-m-3's like driving a fine sports car: smooth, loud, fast, and fun. I'll bring it. :)

Why's the ammo on strippers? Carbine's don't use 'em, do they? And how many rounds in a bandolier?

BTW, this just about my favorite handgun of all, (Hence no ammo. ;)) So you have to reserve 8 shots (A magful.) for me. The rest are fair game, as the A-m-3 shows no additional wear despite a LOT of use. Shoot it as much as you like with my blessing!

If anyone else has a chance to shoot it, though, you may have to wait in line. It's that good. At least, I think so!

And if you're going to bring that Valtro again, and the CZ, I'm all a-quiver in anticipation. Hmm. I wonder if that CZ-75'll out-shoot my Astra 600?

Right. One down, fourtee... I mean, FOUR to go.

Yup... you can recharge M1 carbine the magazines from a stripper clip. Fortunately they also can dispense single rounds easily for loading into other weapons. Can't wait to try it. I will bring a wide assortment of .30 carbine ammo.

On bandoliers and stripper clips... these are cool.

My bandolier has six pouches, each of which holds 2 ten round chargers, for a total of 120 rounds.

The charger has a connector which extends out and 'mounts' the magazine. One then presses down on the column of rounds and they transform from a single stack to a double stacked column inside the mag.

I found tonight that one can recharge the magazine INSIDE the carbine by turning the stripper clip upside-down and pushing from the other side.

It all folds into a compact package, with the strap serving as both a means of containment as well as a handle:

Alternatively, one can wear one or more slung over the shoulder.

HRG: I can bring some .357 sig. Assuming I come, I'll just pick up a box or two on my way up there. So, if I can come, you can bring your Glock and we can "bust some caps".
