So im thinking about moving to montana, ive grown tired of WA state, so what are the gun laws like there? from what ive read there fairly easy going, and also whats the better half of the state to move to for hunting ? Im a rainforest jungle hunter on the west coast of WA is there any thicker timber in montana that i could kinda relate to?

I live in Lincoln County also. Lived in Havre for several years. If you like prairie hunting, lotsa deer, antelope, coyotes, and upland birds... and wind. You don't need a ccw permit to carry concealed except in incorporated cities and towns (which is practically every one). In unincorporated areas you're ok. Then, the permit is easy to get, $50 initially, and $25 to renew. Just show some kind of firearms training. I doubt you will get your permit in a day. Montana is absolutely gorgeous.

I moved from Vancouver, WA a little more than 5 years ago. I live in Lake County and like it here.

Maybe this would be a good place to post my question; please bear with me. My wife and I are both retiring soon. Our plan is to live in various parts of the country for brief periods. We plan to rent a condo or short lease apartment for, say, 2 months in places like Montana to escape the searing heat of Kansas in the summer. I have traveled in Montana some and love it. I'm wondering about bringing several guns with me so would like to live in an area where there might be good summer shooting opportunities such as varmint shooting and good target ranges maybe a good skeet range. I am a little familiar with the areas around Kalispell, but only from a tourist perspective. I will appreciate any help you can offer.
