Related question to earlier post . Now that I have my cases fitting in chamber can I resize the cases that have the primer in place . How about If I pull the decap pin out then resize the cases . I have a 100 cartridges that I had loaded up prior to knowing about them not chambering . These at AR 15 .223 .

What dies? If you can remove the decapping pin and leave the neck expander ball, sure go ahead. Lee dies have the decap pin and expander ball as one piece so you shouldnt do it with lee dies.

Great point, Mike..
That's NOT a problem with me due to my lack (NO) Lee dies to mess with.
If I were in the OP's shoes, I would just pull the de-cap pin on my Redding, or RCBS de-cap rod--leave the internal size button on the end of the de-cap rod..Bill.

I HAVE done it with Lee dies, but I use boattail bullets in my rifle cartridges, so the lack of an expander ball did not seem to make a difference.

I would just resize them as usual removing the primer so I could throw them into the tumbler to remove the case lube. I'd save the primers and use them to reprime the cases after they came out of the tumbler.

I prime before I tumble. It won't hurt a thing. Unless your wet tumbling.

I remove the decapping pin from most of my rifle dies because I like to use the Lyman M expander die (expand by pushing in, not pulling out). SO resizing primed brass is not an issue with this approach. It is also how you fix screw ups if you loaded something and it won't chamber because you didn't size correctly. You can pull the bullel, but leave the powder and primer. Then fix the resizing issue, expand, reseat, and crimp.

If you have Lee dies and you do much .223 you will probably have a "customized" decap pin with the decap part removed.
(customized straightening when it got bent:), hmmm I new there was a reason I did that)

One more thing to add..

If after you Full Length Size your brass is too long (1.760" or more), then you will need to trim also. This calls for chamfer and de-burr also..Either tumble, or at least get the brass chips out...Bill.:D
