Can righty guy use left eye to shoot rifle?

Dad figured out when I was @9 or 10 that I was left eye dominant (right handed).

He made me switch to shooting southpaw with long guns. It took me awhile to get used to it but it works quite well. I still shoot handguns right handed; left hand doesn't seem to have the fine muscle control needed to shoot a handgun accurately. It puzzles a lot of folks to see me shoot a rifle lefty and a handgun righty. Also for hangun, I use an isosceles(sp?) stance. I find if I tuck my chin in tight to the "crease" between my chest and arm, I get a perfect sight picture.

FWIW

Im a lefty shooting right handed and right eye dominant. Call me a freak, but I'm a decent shot:)

isosceles stance

I would like to know what this is. I have probably seen it, but didn't know what it was called.

As in a Isosceles triangle - a handgunning term really...

Thanx that is the stance I have seen and used but did not know what it was called
I better go to bed I have a booth at the bargersville flea market need to be there at 5am to 7am to reserve my space any one in the area stop by and see me.

For Rifles we teach to shoot with the dominant eye, on a M16 it's just easier that way, but for pistol we let them shoot what ever way they hit better. Problem comes when lefty's start to fire the machine guns (M249 & M240G), which are more ment for righty's.

It's better in my opinion to fire with the dominant eye, your non-dominant hand can be trained over time. Some actually do better when they shoot with thier non-dominant hand, because they'll concentrate more.
