Stupid question, I over heard some guy saying that in Florida you can not wear a Kevlar vest and CCW at the same time. I've been curious to find out the answer

Can't speak specifically for FL, but I believe it's false.

Most of the states have language that makes wearing a vest illegal if you are comitting another crime.

How did I know?:D

Was it told to you by a fat guy with a stained t-shirt sitting on a stool? Let me guess he was expounding on his tactical knowledge that he gained from serving on SEEL Team 37.5 while eating a burrito and drinking a Mountain Dew at 9 o'clock in the morning when he mentioned this to you. As well, it started off "I'll tell you what" or "Let me tell you this."

O.K., enough of the gun shop commandos and their bloated bodies and self-importance.

Basic, many states have either sentencing enhancements or separate statutes (which in effect are sentencing enhancements) which are designed to target criminals who wear body armour. Note the key words of "wearing while commiting a felony" or "during the commission of a crime" in the statutes that will soon be cited here.

Gun shop commandos will half hear something on the news during a NASCAR race or something and then tell all the world the wrong information (ego stroke at the gun shoppe [same reason GSCs tell us about their days in Rayjurs or SEELs]. Unless you are committing a qualified felony while CCWing (robbery, attempted murder, inter alia), then the statute does not apply to you.

Remember, disregard everything you hear in a gun shop. "I can shoot all the bullets into a dime", "I can't miss with . . .", "this gun is highly accurate", "when I was in the Rhodesian Light Infantry", etc.

Rhodesian Light Infantry?

Hey!

That was seventy years ago!

I can't be held responsible for that any more.

Statute of limitations, you know.

:D

You know, I don't know why everyone in these favorite "BS stories" has to be a fat guy with cheeto-stained fingers.

I'm a big fat bastard. Lots of the posters here are big fat bastards. Get within 21ft of a big fat bastard and we will be happy to teach you the meaning of "anaerobic ", because a fat guy with huge legs from carrying his fat ass around all day, can hit you like a train before you can say "eek", regardless of his cardiovascular condition.

Skinny people are just as capable of offering really terrible advice at the gun store, thanks.

I heard that Rep. Carolyn McCarthy is doing a campaign to attract tourists to visit the Statue of Limitations in New York City.

Does it have the shoulder thing that flips up?

ROFL!!!

After reading both of those, I nearly choked on a piece of leftover Thanksgiving pie. I should press charges for attempted murder or assault with a deadly pie.

Lots of the posters here are big fat bastards.
No, but I'm working on it.

Here in the PRNJ it's illegal to conceal carry (unless you're really wealthy and well connected), and for civilians to wear armor anytime...We have to get out of here!

From Florida Firearms Law, Use & Ownership Sixth Edition - 2006

Pg 124: "USE OF BULLETPROOF VEST WHILE COMMITTING FELONY:
Any person who, while possessing a firearm, commits or attempts to commit a murder, sexual battery, robbery, burglary, kidnaping, arson, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, escape, or aircraft piracy -- and has the nerve to wear a bulletproof vest in furtherance of the crime -- is guilty of a third degree felony. Again, this is a very good law UNLESS YOU'RE ACTING IN SELF-DEFENSE, and overstep what you can or cannot do. If that happens, it's a very bad law."

Remember, the OVERSTEP above is in the, politically and financially motivated, eyes of the local public persecutor. And in Florida accessories to Kidnapping, Child Rape and Child Murder walk away uncharged, because they have ties to drug crime and I can only speculate on the monetary relationship with elected and/or appointed public officials.

Who was transferred to FL unfortunately, the only way to keep my soft cushy job.

Stevek?

Are you sure about the no body armor any time thing? I know that you need a notorized letter form God him self for a CCW permit (or prove that you have more money than him) but I have never seen any thing that says that the pesants cant have a vest. Can you state a source?

And yes, We gotta get outta here... and right quick.

I was working a security detail in Jacksonville, FL and my supervisor had to go see if it was alright for me to wear body armor. Like I can hurt someone or something. You should have seen the looks when I went to buy it.

Hell, in Miami, everybody and his brother wear armor.

DB,
Don't have a written source, IIRC, my son-in-law who is a Sgt. in a local PD told me this. Please let me know if this is in error.
