Russians put the mount on the side of the receiver the most stable on the rifle. If you see an AK fired in slow motion and watch how the top of the gun whips you would not waste money on the expensive rail mountsI use one on an AR. No complaints. I would estimate the hard part is finding a stable mount on the AK.
I've never had a semi auto break one of my scopes, but then again, I don't buy cheapo POS scopes either...

Care to name the semiautos, scopes, along with some idea of round counts? Many "quality" optics are now made in China, including Aimpoint clones and Leupold models. Had one Leupold break crosshairs many years ago (FAL mounted). Not that uncommon really. That is why manufacturers offer warranties. But then I am only interested in the durability of Bushnell TRS-25 red dot mounted on a Kalashnikov and some idea of how many rounds they have withstood.
