Can you convert a S&W .22 AR-15 to .223? I'm guessing that they made it so you can't but i'm just wondering.

I don't believe you can.

You can, however, get a .22LR upper that fits a standard AR lower.

By which you mean switching uppers from the .22 to .223? If so, no. The lower is slightly different dimensionally, and the magazine well is shaped so that only the M&P-15-22 magazine will fit. Plus, it is solid where the buffer tube on a real AR would be. No threads, it's one molded piece.

Well thats a downer, is there anyone that offers a AR 15 that starts at a lower price that you can convert to .223 like the SIG Sauer classic 22s?

Are you refering to the SIG pistols or the rifles. The pistols can be switched to 9mm, 357SIG, 40 S&W. The SIG 522 rifle however cannot be switched over to shoot 223 like the 556.

I was reffering to the pistols, the .22 caliber lineup is called the classic .22s last I remember.
