Can't we all just get along?

Really, just because you like some pistol, does that mean the rest of us have to own that particular pistol too?

I think some folks have nothing better to do...

:neener:

I concur and am completely sick of the various "Why all the _____ hate?" threads floating around THR right now. May they die a quick and unlamented death.

No, we cannot all just get along. If we didn't argue about which gun, caliber, holster, sights, scope, etc, is better, what the hell would we all talk about?!

I have to say I personally don't demand other people have the same kind of guns I like. In fact, I say NO ONE should have the kind of guns I like -- leave them all for me! :p

One of the reasons I no longer frequent The Smith & Wesson Forum is because if you don't own a pinned & recessed model made durring the Bangor-Punta era or before, you're a substandard S&W shooter. I just got tired of the constant insults because I chose to buy "new" Smith & Wesson revolvers, and not old one's.
My last post there equated buying a Bangor-Punta era S&W with buying an AMF era Harley-Davidson Motorcycle......

There's really very few guns that could be considered junk. Some guys are traditionalists..."If it ain't made of steel and have a wheel, it ain't a real gun"....
There's those that think only the 1911's are worth owning, you got your Glock snobs, and everything inbetween.

I like guns, more preferably handguns. I'm not a caliber snob either, I own guns from .22Lr up to .45 Colt and believe every caliber is significant. My ex-brother in law used to like saying..."if you shoot a guy with a .22, you'll only piss him off"....yet many who have crossed the Mafia are now dead & gone by way of a .22 caliber bullet.

There are guns that I don't particularly like for one reason or another, and I may (if asked) explain why I don't like them, but I don't make a habbit of flaming anyone for their choices in the guns they enjoy.

I don't care for Glocks because I don't like the grip angle, the general feel of them, and the triggers pinch my finger, however I do own a Springfield XD-9, and love the thing. I once owned a Colt 1911A1 series 70 that was a total POS, yet I've had the pleasure of shooting Kimbers, Springfields, and especially a Wilson Combat 1911 that I'd cut my left one off to own.

The problem on these forums stem from people knocking a particular gun, without giving an intelligent reason why they don't like it. Some are still young and not at the same maturity level, or have the years of shooting experiance that the rest of us have. (I wonder how many here even know who Elmer Keith was, or what he accomplished in his lifetime) That doesn't make one a bad person, or a bad shooter, just someone who lacks knowlege of gun and shooting history. A lot of times it's not what is said, but how it's precieved as being said that appears insulting.

I try to go through life with thick skin.......

I know there was a reason I'm a Colt man. :p
