I've always thought short grips and long barrels made perfect sense for IWB concealed carry.

Kimber makes a 4" on a shortened frame (Compact Stainless II) without effecting capacity. I'm assuming it uses proprietary 7-round mags which are also shortened, otherwise I imagine USGI mags would hang out the bottom. Either way, it's not really an Officer's frame OR a Commander slide.

Has there ever been a factory-produced 1911 (by anyone) with a true 4.25" barrel/slide on an Officer's frame?

Colt made/makes them, for one. It was called a "Concealed Carry Officer's" I believe - CCO for short. Search on that phrase and you should find info. I know other makers have produced it, also, I think Springfield had a model like that, too.

I have the opposite. a regular size frame and an officers length barrel. lol. It has General Officers Model on the side. (its a mirror finish too)

geronimo... That's just weird. :)

I found the Colt CCO doing my own research (thank you though, Oro) as well as Sig Sauer's Compact, RCS, and C3 models which all fit the bill as well. I haven't heard many good things about Sig's 1911 line unfortunately.

I haven't stumbled across the Springfield version though. I'll check that out next.

Thanks guys.

That's the exact configuration that I wish I'd bought when I got a Kimber Ultra-Elite .45 years ago; I bought the Officer's Model and don't really regret it, just wish I'd gotten the CCO instead; the true reason is...I just like the looks better-the 3" barrel & slide doesn't "look" as cool, to me!

I wanted a CCO in 10mm. Tried to find one in .40 to have it converted, but couldn't, so.....I had one built. It is a perfect carry gun for me. Mine is a Fusion slide on a Caspian frame.

Fusion Firearms now has CCO's available in 9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W, .45 ACP and 10mm; these were in the works when I bought my slide from them and not yet available or I would have gotten one from them. Bob Serva was extremely helpful in answering mine & my gunsmith's questions during our build. You won't go wrong with one of his pistols.

Wilson Combat makes a CQB Compact that is a commander length slide & an officers sized frame that has a shorter grip. I have one but the grip is almost too short for my large hands. It is easier to conceal but harder to control......at least for me!!!

I have been carrying an original CCO for about five years now. Great gun. The only thing that did not strike my fancy was the dual finish on the gun. I have learned to live with it though. You can still find them occasionally on GB & AA/

Sweet Baby J.

That pistol is absolutely perfect. Aluminum-framed CCO with beautiful and extremely functional custom grips, night sights, awesome texturing on the frontstrap and backstrap.

Thank you j1979. I'm going to try to get one of these ASAP. I won't feel like a "beta-tester" with Dan Wesson.

Not quite "factory produced"...but my Baer Stinger is a 4.25 inch barrel and an officers frame...the mags are Tripp Gen II CobraMags (the only "true" 7 round officers mag).

And YES...it is the perfect CCW 1911 (the Baer is ALL steel by the way)

Here's mine...2 years old, somewhere over 12,000 rounds

Mainsail,

I'd forgotten about Sig's C3. I've handled one & loved it. Mine is in 10mm, and we decided against trying an alloy frame with it.

Thought I would be a thread necromancer here and put up a pic of one of the best 1911 carry options there is. The ParaOrdinance CCW in 45. Officers style grip with commander style barrel and slide with Paras proprietary LDA trigger. Bobbed hammer, bevelled grip safety, night sights. I do own one but this is the stock photo.

Pair of 10mm's from Dan Wesson. Bottom one is a CCO.

Been carrying both for several years. The CCO is a real pleasure to carry.
