Guys I am a newbie here. I have some 7mm rem mag brass that has some corrosion on it, I tumbled it and most came off with no pitting there appears to be just a discolored spot. Is this brass safe to use or should I toss it ?
Compare the color of the brass from the corroded case with a factory new brass case of same brand name. If the corroded case is simply darker with no pitting, it is probably safe to use.
If the corroded case looks slightly reddish all over or just in the worst spot of corrosion, then the zink has been leached out of the brass and it should be discarded.
Cartridge brass is 70% copper and 30% zinc. Less % zink makes the case brittle and prone to rupture.
