Cast bullet turnaround time(Missouri Bullet)

For those wanting to know the current turnaround for cast bullets, here is a good example.

I ordered 4k 158gr SWC (357 Action!) for bullseye practice on Wednesday at 9:52pm. I received my shipping confirmation at 11:18am Thursday morning and today at 1:21pm my bullets were dropped on my doorstep by the USPS.

I would call that a pretty darned good turnaround time! And, before anyone asks, yes, I am partial to Missouri Bullet. I am bragging on their good service and quality product because I appreciate what the owners, Brad and Joanne, do for our community.

I decided to add some .45 lead "boolits" to my reloading repertoire. In mid'August I ordered 1K 230gr .452s from Friendswood Bullet Company. Their website indicates that it may take up to 4 weeks for orders to be delivered.

They charged my card immediately.

After 4 weeks I sent a nice email telling them that I am not in a rush but would like a rough ETA on when my order will be delivered.

Silence.

Yesterday I sent them a 2nd nice email ETA request after 5 weeks had gone by.

<sigh>

I will probably place another order, this one for bullets with Missouri Bullet, so that I can continue with .45ACP load workups while I continue attempting to get this Friendswood order sorted.
 
Missouri Bullet has generally been excellent in my transactions.

If you really want to wait and love lack of communication, try Gad Bullets. I've been waiting three months and he doesn't answer emails.
 
Like most casting companies, Friendswood Bullet Company is suffering massive lag times. I ordered some bullets from them and after 4 weeks I sent a gentle reminder. They promised delivery within a week and I had my bullets 3 days later.

Give them a chance, they will come thru.

Thanks for the info. :)

Apparently they have given up responding to gentle email reminders. Hopefully, either my package will arrive or they will respond this week.
 
Still not a peep from Friendswood ... sent them a 3rd email request for info yesterday.

Ten minutes ago I completed a Missouri Bullet order, so maybe by EOW next I will have some .45 bullets from at least one of these companies.

In the meantime I will complete my newest M1A Build and, after that, reload some 9mm lead ... I have LOTS of 9mm lead. :)

It's good to see Missouri bullets is back to shipping as fast as before the shortage hit, I knew they would. There are those of us who think Brad is psychic because sometimes it seems we get our order as we place it.
 
Friendswoods are local to me so my preferred reloading supplies store has had in stock what I what I wanted.

Missouri bullets? I can say that my experience was great also. Shipped within a couple of hours of ordering. On my doorstep 2 days later.

Had a few other retailers where 'shipped' didn't actually mean shipped. IMHO shipped should mean that the carrier has it in their possession. Doesn't seem to always be the case.
 
Frag, usually the programs that people use automatically list it as shipped when the shipping label is printed. Thats how it works with our website. Thats also how it works with Missouri Bullet Co. Brad from MBC and I just try to make sure that if we print it out that day that it goes out the same day.

Yeah, I figured it might be something like that. It would be unrealistic to manually update every individual order, especially when shipping hundreds of orders a day. Busy times......
 
I haven't bought from MBC but I was under the impression that they used stamps.com. stamps.com has a place to input the buyers email address. Are you saying that MBC doesn't send tracking through stamps.com? Hmm, I wonder if he has experienced some headaches with it that made it not worth doing. We send tracking emails through stamps.com but you would be surprised how often we get calls from people who block emails from stamps.com as spam.

For those who don't know, Brad from MBC and I are (in a small way) competitors. Brad has always been very kind to me from the beginning and actually helped me find lead casting equipment when I wanted to start casting my own. We often exchange information back and forth and he is what I would consider a first class businessman. Whenever I have a customer who wants a bullet that I don't have, I send them straight to MBC.

Brad is an all around good guy, and from all of my dealings I think you are too. I would not hesitate to do business with either of you. The fact that Brad was willing to help you get into business competing with him says a lot about him, IMO.

For those that arent familiar with these two, I will say this, I will ONLY buy my jacketed bullets from RMR(Longdayjake) and will only buy my cast from Missouri Bullet. You will NEVER go wrong doing business with these two!
 
Whilst practicing my Google-Fu, I have come across a couple of places that offer "coated" boolits.

Apparently, the coating eliminates both the need for additional lube being added and the smoke that results from same upon firing.

Anyone have any experience with these coated boolits?

Jake, have you heard about this stuff?

Yes I have. We experimented with some coating but we are unhappy with the time it takes to do it. In order to make money on them we would have to charge quite a bit more than the conventional lead cast bullets. Don't get me wrong. I am always open to better ideas. I just need a faster way to do it that is consistent and high quality.
 
My first order with MBC was a few weeks ago. After checkout I realized that I misspelled my street name. I called them and the very nice lady made the proper changes to my shipping info and within 15 minutes I got a email that my order shipped! I received my order 1.5 days later!:cool:

I've had great luck with:

www.bulletworks.com

The owner (Jimmy Mitchell) is great. Give him a call. He knows his stuff and is great to deal with to boot. I was thrilled with their customer service.

EDIT: by the way, I've used their 200gr SWC and 230gr RN. Both work well. And again you won't find a better guy to deal with. Excellent TX gentleman very respectful and tells it like it is at the same time. He knows his stuff. Usually ships in less than a week in my experience.
 
MBC and Jake are both TOP NOTCH! They are my 'go to' places for bullets. My alternatives are Falcon Bullets (in TN) and ZCast Bulletz in AZ. I've never had a bad deal with any of them, and Brad has gone above & beyond a few times. Mastercast was also a good alternative.
