Mandeville La,
I bought a Taylor conversion for my Pietta 1858 Rem.and want to make handloads with Unique.Lyman's 49 th says 8.6 gr to 9.6 gr with 200gr rnfp.Taylor recommends 750fps to 850fps.Using reduced load calculator I come up with 6.6gr for 800 fps. This load is with Starline brass,Missouri Bullet cowboy #4, and CCI 300 primers.
Reducing the load down to 6.6 from 8.6 starting load has me concerned.I would appreciate input from all the gurus.thanks.

45 Colt

Is this a quiz, so we can guess the cartridge? :D
Exclusively from Taylor’s & Co., these conversion cylinders are manufactured to fit Remington 1858 steel-frame revolvers by Uberti® or Pietta, in .36 or .44 calibers. One of the most popular conversions, this 6-shot cylinder converts 1858 .36 calibers to .38 SP and converts .44 calibers to .45 LC cowboy ammunition only. Taylor’s offers the only 6-shot 1858 Remington Conversion cylinder on the market.
Alliant has a maximum of 9.5gr with a 200gr lead in 45 colt. I would load 3 at your 6.6gr for 800 fps. See how they look and feel. Dirty is my guess. If you wait, someone will come along that has loaded your combination.
