I've continuously carried the folder I bought for $12 at a mil surplus store since I was 13.

Even in high school, the principal had no complaint when I whipped it out to attend to an innocuous cutting task in his presence.

Today, of course, that would have gotten me a firing squad.

Both, started carrying knives camping at age 7-8, everyday at 18, and firearms regulary since sept 2003. I find the knife gets used more and is more useful on a everyday basis, the handgun more comforting on a daily basis :).

You can stick me in Whole Hog's catagory.

My knife (Gerber folder I picked up somewhere) is either in my pocket or right next to the keys & wallet. The pistol is in the safe. There are days where if I know I will be going somewhere that a pistol isn't allowed but a knife will be ok then the pistol will stay home.

I've carried folders all my life, mostly for work, and have only carried a gun for a year. The knife has nothing to do with the gun - I'd carry it anyway. This way you're just prepared for any shootin' OR cuttin' that might be needed. :)

I carry a Kimber Compact along a cheap and dull folder. When its misplaced I carry a CRKT M16-12z, which is normally used for work since it actually keeps an edge and doesn't need sharpened twice a week.

Sig P239 or P228, depending on weather, and either a mini Griptilian or CRKT Hawk D.O.G. Even if I'm in a spot where carrying a sidearm isn't an option, I've always got the folder.

I don't consider the knife a weapon, though. It's just a handy thing to have.

(When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought he was asking about carrying a folding-stock long gun for CCW.:D

I've always carried a pocketknife as a tool. Currently I have two, a Swiss army knife and a Gerber LST-2.

I was taught from an early age that the only correct response when asked, "Do you have a knife?" is: "Always!";)

Since it became legal for me to do so, locally, I have "Always!" carried both.

Before it was legal, ...well....

Have folder will travel, have been carrying one or another since I was 12.

Currently a 1911 and a Gerber 650 or an older buck folder.

Get outside the city and most everyone has a folder riding in pocket or on the hip.

I'm in the both category, but the knife I carry is more of a tool than weapon. It's a small Kershaw spring "assisted" piece. I also carry a "Tinker" model Swiss Army Knife and a Leatherman tool.
