Michigan has some "grey area" concerning where you can and can't carry. Bars are off limits, but sports bar restaurants are OK... as long as they don't earn more than 50% of profit from booze sales. How the heck are you supposed to know that?

Washington is similar, however the percentage is irrelevant. Instead, they base it on whether minors are permitted. Applebees has a 'bar area' that is off limits to under 21s, however the rest of the restaurant is ok for minors (and both are ok for miners if they're adults). Likewise, 'taverns' are off limits for under 21s; they can't even go in the door; your sidearm is similarly prohibited.

So for WA, speaking only for places that sell alcohol; if you can take a child there you can take your pistol (open or concealed); if you cannot take a child there, you cannot take your sidearm.
