Hi,

I got a call from my brother yesterday and he told me that his son and him were going hunting and my nephew had his pistol concealed on him and somehow the police there ended up writing him a ticket for underaged possession and and no ccw or something. That's all my brother told me, I have no clue how anyone would spot it or anything but I do know that they're very responsible hunters and have never done anything wrong before this. What kind of penalty is my nephew looking at for this? He's 16 and lives in AZ also.

Confused but thanks!

This is what I could find in a quick search. Dunno how it works for a juvenile, though.

What are the penalties if I am convicted or plead guilty?
Misdemeanors are divided into three categories: Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3. Class 1 misdemeanors are the most serious and Class 3 are the least serious. The maximum penalties are:

Class 1 misdemeanor: up to $2,500.00 fine and six months in jail;

Class 2 misdemeanor: up to $750.00 fine and four months in jail;

Class 3 misdemeanor: up to $500.00 fine and 30 days in jail.

Carrying for hunting as an adult (21 or older) is only legal with a CCW or when carried in the open by those with a hunting permit in many places. Some places you can open carry, but hunting only with the pistol permit to hunt or CCW, or transporting the pistol loaded.
