I bought a "new" original Cetme bolt carrier for my rifle. I changed out all the proper parts and instilled it into my receiver. I pulled the charging handle and the carrier would only close half way. I took the new carrier out and found what looks like a large roll pin/spring stop inserted about half way down in the original carrier tube. Now here's my questions. Can I remove the "roll pin/spring stop" from my original carrier and install it into the new one? If so, how? Do I need to replace my recoil spring and guide rod with a G3 to use the new carrier? Is a G3 recoil spring and guide rod longer than a cetme?

No, they are the same length. The only difference is the spring retainer used on the end.

Not sure about the rest of your question. :(

I checked on a couple of Cetme and G3 carriers and they all have that spacer installed. ID of the spacer is roughly .392" for Cetme and .425" for G3. Tried to knock spacer back with a punch but seemed tight enough to damage the spacer.

If trying to correct a ground bolt or increase "headspace" gap can't you just replace the bolt head and locking piece on the old carrier?

Maybe these guys can help

carries some Cetme parts.

All CETME-C carriers (and G3s I've seen) have that "spring stop" thing.
CETME one is a smaller diameter. But I think it should be deeper inside the carrier top tube.

A new one should have it because they were fitted at Santa Barbara factory (now property of General Dynamics). It was never meant to be taken out. Not even on the armorer's manual up to "segundo escalon" (battallion level armorer).

Unless General Dynamics is marketing there in the US new "unfinished" parts or they market that spring stop separately, I don't know how could it could get out of the factory unfinished.
The lots of brand new CETME C marketed here by them have carriers identical to the military issue ones.

If I can, in a couple days I could take a picture of the carrier from one of the CETME Cs we keep around at base and my civilian one, but i can tell you without a doubt it has that "spring stop".

I will check to be sure if it should be deeper or not. Can you check depth of yours?

Checked depth from rear of carrier and both Cetme's and G3 spacers are 5.60 inches +/- .025" recessed. I have heard of carriers without the bushings before but unfortunately don't remember if there was an easy fix.

The part is listed as item PACE0232C (Bolt carrier guide) with a price of $9.00. It is staked in place and serves as a collar to keep the recoil guide assembly centered as the action cycles.

I'm guessing Bernie was quoting dealer price, because I went to their site and looked it up. Listed under (non-firearms/parts) it's priced at $12.95. I can live with that, the only hitch is $75.00 min order.
RTG is who I bought my carrier from and has better prices then Century.
Right now I can't think of anything else I need to buy to meet their $75 min.
I'll call my "gun show" friend and see if he needs anything and make a joint order. As for Bernie saying "staked in place" I've looked at my C A carrier and I don't see any stake marks. I thought it was like a roll pin and held in by spring tension, because my new carrier tube is nice and smooth. When I get this (Bolt carrier guide) I can pop a small weld or two, grind it down smooth to hold it in place.
Thanks Yall for the help and suggestions.

If you picked up the bolt from RTG, have you checked with them about this? They have always been helpful when I have had any questions about their parts.
The photo of the original bolt almost looks like a one piece, not welded up, bolt carrier which I thought only came in G3's. Are you sure this is a Cetme carrier? Are the noses that go into the cocking tube the same on both carriers? You probably know the difference but since bolt assembelys and trunnions need to match to function safely, just thought I'd ask.

Sorry, my camera died after taking a few pictures of our service pistol, and could not take any of the CETME bolts.

Hopefully, this week I can correct it.
