Well I was OK with the looks but I shot it today and I'm not OK with the FEEL of it. The grip was already a little fat and now, it's just too fat for me. I don't have small hands by any means, but with that fiberglass "cast" on it, it's too fat to feel comfortable in the hand.

Maybe you can add some premium bondo to it and turn it into a target style pistol grip or a thumbhole stock or something. There's probably a silver lining in there somewhere and if successful, someone might really appreciate it.

ass-ugly... but if you like it, whatver... i'd just use a differnt gun for saturday morning shooting, and get a new shotgun from mossy.

Hey now, I don't think it looks that bad at all. Got any photos of your pick-up truck?

Sure, here are some pics of my truck (with the gun of course):

In case you wonder what the roll of carpet is doin in the bed of the truck... One of my sisters suddenly started having contractions and is going to have her baby Wednesday at the latest. It came kind of as a surprise. Her husband had ripped up the carpet to put down some cheap fake wood flooring, so she wouldn't have to deal with the nasty worn-out carpet with the new baby. However, he is a crappy handy-man and couldn't figure out how to get the flooring to fit and stuff. Me and my other brother-and-law decided to take over the project and spent all yesterday evening until about 2 AM laying the flooring for him and we still have the old carpet :p Gotta get it to the dump. Anyways that has nothing to do with anything, except to prove how useful a truck is...

I don't know that I'd drive around with it pointed at the driver's seat like it is in the first pic. Other than that, it's perfect. :D

Its perfect. In fact, even though its a ford, I'd drive it.
Toss in an old 30-30 lever gun, a dog, some fishin' gear, and a empty weekend and I'd be happy as could be.
If ford built trucks like that today, I'd own one. :p I just ain't payin' $30,000 for it. (Remember, I shoot 870's, Not Perazzi's)

Murphy's Law of Combat #3 states: If it's stupid and it works - it ain't stupid. I live by that credo! If you think it's too ugly for you, I'll give it a nice home. You may want to try lightly sanding the sides and blending the lump to make shooting easier. When you get a new stock you'll be all set, until then enjoy the gun. Who cares what it looks like? I've got duct tape on my fly rod, it helps give a better cast (and keeps my 2 piece rod from being a 3 piece).

She's a beaut Clark, I don't see the problem?

Oh, here's my girlfriend........

Maybe I should use the old stock to practice my woodburning skills. I was thinkin' of putting my initials in the wood grips of my Redhawk and the shotgun stock would make good practice fodder :)

Or I could give it to you Tuna if you really need a Mossberg 835 stock. I'm pretty sure it won't fit on any other Mossberg but I could be wrong. You short a stock or something?

Its not quite ghetto enough.
I agree, get some spray can Rhino-liner and cover that puppy... :D Better yet, wrap some more 'glass around it, then dremel the grip so it fits your hand, and THEN hit it with the Rhino-liner. Get a couple bolts, and put them through the fore-end sticking out, then get your woodburning kit and burn "Hellbore's FrankenGun" into the forearm...

No, I don't need a new stock, but I'm always willing to take an ugly gun off of someone. Some people rescue unwanted cats, some rescue dogs, some people care for foster children...me - I rescue guns. :)

Well thanks but the thought but I'm not scrapping the gun just because of a broken stock ! That's like throwing out the baby with the bathwater!

Marshall
