Can I comment on this too? First off, I don't really care for cowboy culture, but for the love of God, will these statements EVER cease? Cowboys moved cows around and had guns (for the most part) to shoot varmints and the occasional poacher. The gun battles of old, rarely happened and were often sensationalized. Did showdowns at high noon happen? Probably, but it was probably more like a gang-banger thing than a common part of cowboy culture. I also think life back then was so hard that it was simply easier to make friends than enemies. Also, when you consider the frequency with which the death penalty was implemented in criminal cases, you could gather that all crime was treated as serious and that, given the orders of the constitution, due process was probably more common than vigilantism.

The other thing that angers me about these statements is that they use the cowboy term as a derogatory metaphor. It's another way to say, "primitive". It's like softening a vulgarity.

Even as I am a young man in my 20's, I can see that this is asinie. I do not see how so many people, living in a capitalistic society, can even fathom favoring socialism... I thought the Cold War ended years ago, but it seems that communism has found its place in the larger cities of this great nation. At least for the time being we have guns to defend our constitutional right against the governments of America. Whoop for the framers of the constitution for knowing that further down the road douches would arise as they did in England.

Nah, Daley's not a communist, he's just a two bit thief, of the sort that populates Latin American and post-colonial African history. His only ideology is money and power. He'd proclaim Chicago an Islamic Republic under Shar'ia if he thought it'd help him steal another dollar or another vote.

Daley's a White Mugabe. Chicago just hasn't hit the tipping point of total collapse... yet.

It's easy for us to jeer or to laugh at with contempt and derision sentiments such as this, however, the sad fact is that there are many so called citizens throughout this country who apparently wouldn't mind at all inhabiting an authoritatrian socialist police state.
