You would think that Chicago would've learned back in the thirties how people react when you ban something that people want. Especially mthe criminals.

If Capone was alive he'd be smuggling Ziplocs in from downstate :)

Next week on Cops. Detectives stake out Macy's at Christmas. The crime??? Posession of little plastic baggies with intent to distribute.

Maam, your coming downtown
But officer, I was just buying a shirt for my husband
Sorry maam, you can tell it to the judge.

Another little plastic baggie off of the streets.

"Blood flowed in the streets today in Chigago as members of two warring illegal baggie factions exchanged gunfire in a bitter turf war"

"Ever since we banned baggies, bootlegger baggie badboys have flooded the streets with what they are calling 'clear gold'" said the mayor, adding "Everything we touch just turns to s***, I quit"

All the small quantities of drugs I've bought have come in little custom twist offs of plastic wrap.

Thats how we roll in Seattle.

After this ban I will be offering classes in Chicago teaching this revolutionary method of packing small quantities of drug.

It will be great finally working in a city where I am guaranteed to be safe in my business transactions. Handgun ban WORKS. I have loads of anecdotal evidence to prove it: For example, my brother lives in Chicago, and does not own a handgun, neither does his roomate. Case closed.

Do you think we could get Canada to take Chicago? Oops, bad idea. Canada, as bad as their gun laws are have better laws than Chicago.

We don't need any help... drugs are a problem in Canada.. I should know, I used to live in the "Heroine Capital"...

Chicago Logic
Question: How do you stop the trade of illegal fireworks?
Answer: Ban matches.

Question: How do you deal with child pornography?
Answer: Ban cameras.

Question: How do you get rid of drunk drivers?
Answer: Ban alcohol. If that doesn't work, ban cars.

Wow, I'bve bought lots of legitimate, legal, stuff that came in a bag either shorter or narrower than 2 inches.....
So, if I order a couple screws for one of my guns, and they arrive in a small bag, as all the ones I'vegotten always have, I could got o jail for being in possession of the bag? Wow! Seriously, why dont they just quit screwing around about it, and just pass a federal law that says "we can arrest anyone, any time, for anything we want".With the hundreds of thousands of laws there are already, 90% of them being pointless, redundant, stupid,or so obscure most peope dont know about it, thats basically what they are doing anyways. Why not just get it over with, and be honest about thier goals.

"sorry timmy and suzy, you cant have a sandwich in your lunch box today, the guy down the street got pinched 1500 for having those bags"

does it apply to BULK bags, like 100 sandwich bags in a box, or is it also hit to the undersize bags being used to sell merchandise from say, ford?

if you do already have these little bags, DON'T PAINT THEM BLACK. Then they're "tactical drug bags".

Maybe not yet. I'll give Chicago a year or so before black paint or plastic is illegal.

"Ever since we banned baggies, bootlegger baggie badboys have flooded the streets with what they are calling 'clear gold'" said the mayor, adding "Everything we touch just turns to s***, I quit"

You forgot: "It's the gun lobby's fault!"

"Blood flowed in the streets today in Chigago as members of two warring illegal baggie factions exchanged gunfire in a bitter turf war"

Come on Doubletap!! Your killing me.

Thank God I wasn't drinking a soda! Cuz my nose would be burning...

Judging from El Tejon's post, spray paint is already illegal....

oh wow. I just googled it. I thought he was kidding.

Nope. That's a real law there. At what point will the people of Chicago put their foot down and say, "NO MORE!" ???

This has what to do with guns exactly?

(sorry)

And anyway, everyone knows that the 'bottom' half of the cellophane from the cigs (which has the tax stamp on the bottom) is the only right and proper packaging for small quanitities of narcotics. UGGGHHH!!!-these are the same people who said you could no longer serve 'fish and chips' in old newspaper in the U.K., aren't they!!

Again, not about RKBA.

Get caught with springs, roll pins, target sight diopters, tiny screwdrivers, or any of your other spare parts and cleaning gear stored in such bags and you'll pay $1500.

Next year, when it'll have become a felony, you'll lose all of your civil rights.

And it parallels the way in which the same people infringe on the rights listed in the 2nd Amendment, in order to avoid having to spend their time catching and imprisoning violent felons.

Sounds related to RKBA, to me.

Moving down the line of command to working officers, we read:

Chicago Sun-Times said:
Lt. Kevin Navarro, commanding officer of the Chicago Police Department's Narcotics and Gang Unit, said the ordinance will be an "important tool" to go after grocery stores, health food stores and other businesses.
Pehaps someone could tell the Lieutenant to "go after" criminals and "protect" stores and other legitimate businesses. I'm hoping that the reporter simply misstated whatever it was that Lt. Navarro actually said.

Illegal bags are becoming a serious problem. If the bags were microstamped it would be possible for law enforcement agencies to track them to the sellers, who would be required to keep records of every bag sold.

I'm pleased to see Chicago taking the lead on this initiative. Why, I wonder, has California waited for Chicago to show the way?
