Choosing a .22 revolver

When I went to school, I loved my RG single action Western style revolver. It had brown plastic grips that had to be tightened every time I cleaned it and it took a lot of practice to hit anything with its fixed sights, but it was only sixty bucks and I was poor.

It's long gone, but I still enjoy single actions, and believe that the Single-Six is well worth the price. I sold my RG later so I could get a Ruger Standard Auto. I missed it, though. It weighed only a little more than my cowboy gun when I was a kid, plus it went bang every time I pulled the trigger. I sure wish they made cheap handguns today. If they still made them, I'd have a loaded one in every room of my home.

Does anyone make any holsters for the Single-Six that also carries the extra cylinder?

H&R Target Sportsman. 9 round top break revolver. Accurate and rugged with nice balance and well within your price range. The only drawback I have found for this revolver is the shorter cylinder. Occasionally you will get some powder debris when firing. Gloves are good with this one!

Super Single Six - Heirloom quality, no regrets. he will keep until he can't.

Heritage - They make an all-steel model now, blued, with target sites, within your price range. Pretty close to Single Six, but no heirloom.

H&R - I have run across several that were like-new for $150 - $200. Hurry, people have discovered them and they appear to be appreciating

NAA Minimaster. Neat LITTLE revolver, target sights, 4" barrel, Stainless steel (have it engraved) $250

Check North American Arms revolvers out: http://www.naaminis.com/index02.html

That is, if you're looking for a tiny pocket gun for him. ;)

They have as small as 1" barrel .22 Magnum revolvers, up to 4" 22 Magnum revolvers.

I think it's a neat little gift to give someone; their 1" barrel PUG even has an option of having a Tritium night sight on it! ;)

I'm getting the 1 5/8" barreled .22 Magnum Mini revolver as my 3rd backup gun to carry concealed in my ankle and/or pocket.

Buying a stainless Ruger Single-Six was one of the greatest things I ever did. If you've ever bought a gun that you've looked at and said, "This is a keeper," this is it.

Alas, I checked prices on some .22WMR at a sporting goods store today and the price of ammo was $13 for fifty rounds. Wow. I'm hoping Wal*Mart has better prices.

Lately I've been shooting more photos of my guns than I've been shooting the guns...I gotta change that! :banghead:

If you are looking for a holster set with a pouch for your extra cylinder, Heritage Arms has some nice looking one reasonably priced. I know you don't like their guns but the holsters shouldn't matter. $69.99 for the holster-cartridge belt combo and $19.99 for the extra cylinder pouch. They come in 3 different styles and you can order them off their website http://www.heritagemfg.com They look real nice in the pictures.

Looks like a great holster, GG. Thanks. And I don't dislike their guns, BTW. I don't have any experience with them. As for the pouch, that may be the way to go, though I'd like one that was actually attached to the holster. But this may do just as well. Nothing says they have to be attached.
