Citadel 1911

Suppose to be the new name for Rock Island. Armscor through a certain distributor. Love to have one of their 6" 1911 models.

Citadel is the new name for the RIA imports. I have only seen the Citadel on the RIA Tactical configuration - I do not know if they are importing/going to import the 'GI' version.

I have a Citadel. It works well.

I find it odd that in the banner up top, the guy has the hammer down on the 1911 in his holster.

Wouldn't be too quick on the uptake with a fishing rod in the other hand if he really needed his firearm.

I picked one up and really liked it. But the store I was at had it for $600! I thought that was too high for an Armscor and passed. From what I heard it is very similar to the older Charles Daly 1911s. The Dalys are not made by Armscore anymore so it looks like they just put them back into production under a new name/distributer. I wouldnt hesitate to buy one at a better price.

So is the RIA name and models are dead now?

I guess that would explain why I haven't seen them on CenterfireSytems.com in a long time. It looks like they are still being imported into Pahrump, NV based on stamping on the barrel. I really hope Armscor continues to make the RIA Government and Tactical models. They had a price point that couldn't be beat. By jacking up the price they are now competing with the entry level Sprinfield's and their own STI Spartans. I also thought RIA had one of the nicer rolls stamps and I really wanted a RIA Tactical. I would pony up the $500-600 if they came out with a full sized 1911 blinged out tactical style Citadel pushing 9mm.

I think RIA is still going strong, just in high demand. The Citadel name is in addition to the RIA.

I saw somewhere that the Citadel roll-marked ones are forged frame & slide, differing from everything else coming out of Armscor. Don't remember where I saw that though. Some gun mag.

Oooh a forged frame might make it worth the extra $$$ to me. I'd have to handle the RIA and Citadel side by side to know for sure. The RIA slides were always fored but mated to a cast frame, right?

In my opinion, RIA also has one of the nicest roll marks in the sub custom gun arena. I haven't seen a good picture of the Citadel roll mark. I do like the minimallist Dan Wesson approach as well. Almost like they are saying, 'We'll let the gun speak for itself.' :)

+1

On the other side of the spectrum, see the Firestorm 1911's hideous rollmark.

these are NOT RIA, but from Armscor, who also makes RIA - two different companys after they get imported - just as the High Standard is

Not true! The Citadel is the same gun as the former CD Field EFS.
