I hope this doesn't go against any rules of somesort, as I re-read the forum rules before posting.

Anyhow, I've got a US History project: What if the South had won the Civil War, and what effects it would have in both short term and long term.

I've got my own little ideas going on here, but I wanted to see what you guys could make of this. Creativity is nice, but not something just completely unrealistic. Like Union nuclear attacks, and .50BMGs used to bring the nation to its knees and such. What effects would it have on both nations? In what ways would civil liberties be different both then and now? More civil Wars?

Anything you'd like to add or contribute would be greatly appreciated.

And, let's not let this get 'out of hand' for any reason. Not sure how peoples' feelings are here on the subject, so let's not turn this into a Jane Fonda thread or something like it please.

What if Hitler had won the Battle of Britain?

What if British riflemen had actually shot George Washington on the battlefield?

What if the Gauls had beaten the Romans?

What if the Spartans had held off the Persians?

What if, what if, what if................

Harry Turtledove has written a very good series of novels that deal with this very topic. WWI had the CSA, allied with, er...The Allies. And the USA, under Teddy Roosevelt, with the Germans. Rather interesting reading.
