My father-in-law is kind of new to the world of shooting. He has several guns though (some shotguns, pistols and a couple of 22 lr's). He has mentioned that he wants to get a kit to clean handguns with as he has begun shooting them a bit lately. I am thinking about getting him a kit for Christmas. I was actually thinking about getting him a universal kit of some sort so he could use it to clean all of his guns. Now I do realize that a universal kit is not always the "best" solution but for him it would probably be the best so he would have the tools capable of cleaning all of his guns. I have a Kleen bor universal kit I have been using for years. Should I just get him one of those or is there a better or just as good solution. I am looking to spend $75 or less. What can I do for that? I would like to get him as good a quality kit as I can for the money.

Just stick with an American made kit from Kleen-Bore, Hoppies, etc.

There are a lot of fancy "Cleans Everything" kits in fitted wood or aluminum chests being sold now. They are made in China

Some of the brushes & tips are weird metric thread and you can't get replacements that fit the rods.
