Describe your cleaning and lubing and any special tricks for the garand-action rifles and carbine. (specificly the M14/M1A and M1 Carbine) :D

Tools I use for cleaning my Garands:

Sinclair rifle cleaning cradle
Dewey 30CF25 coated cleaning rod
Dewey brass muzzle guide
Tipton 30 cal brass pierce jag
Sinclair 30 cal patches
CMP brass gas cylinder lock wrench
Tipton or Sinclair bronze brushes (30 cal and 45 cal)
Butch's Bore Shine
Butch's Gun Oil

I clean the rifle upside down to keep solvent and oil from going into the gas port or into the action.

I use the Tipton 30 cal brass pierce jag as opposed to the Dewey jag that comes with the rod because the Tipton has a taper near base where screws into the rod. This is nice since that's where the cleaning patch tends to get the thickest and thus, the taper gives it more room between the jag and the bore so it's not super tight.

For basic cleaning, I'll remove the gas cylinder lock screw and lock. I'll clean them off, either by wiping them down with a rag or spraying them with brake cleaner. I'll run a dry patch wrapped around a .45 brush and clean in inside of the gas cylinder. I don't remove the gas cylinder for basic cleaning because it will wear the gas cylinder to barrel fit with constant removal.

I use a 45 cal bore mop to wipe the chamber.

You should get a combo tool. Get the one with the patch holder and not the brush. This will come in handy for cleaning the chamber. I don't have one myself, yet. I keep lagging on ordering one.
