Beginning to set up my new Hornady L n L and the instructions for the powder dispenser say to clean it of all oil residue. What would you recommend to clean it with that is oil free but will not promote rust?

I used the Hornady One Shot degreaser/ dry lube. Brake cleaner may work well if the measure is kept inside. Maybe a little silicone spray. I had to run about a pound of powder through it to get it "seasoned". Powder would stick to some parts until the supposed "dry lube" wore off.

Now it's all black from all the powder it's seen and I have no plans of cleaning it.

Hornady recommends their One Shot dry lube. I bought a can with my press.

Dryer sheet will not work. Brake cleaner will. Hornady One Shot Gun Cleaner and Dry Lube will work best because it not only degreases, but also leaves a dry lube that helps fight rust which will start as soon as the anti-rust packing grease is cleaned off. Other oils are not good because they MIGHT attack the powder.

One Shot. Also, be aware that leaving powder in the hopper after a session can very quickly discolor and even etch the inside of the clear plastic. Empty the device as soon as you're done for the day.
