CNN: Could allowing students to pack heat have prevented the Va Tech massacre?

I saw the professor that said that she is scared about students carrying concealed weapons. Her name was Dr. Barbara Nash. I decided to look up her email address on the university of utah's website and send her a little email. Before I post my email, I would like to share with you something. She is a professor of GEOLOGY!!!! Evidentally this gives her the "expertise" to comment on the safety of the university. Anyway, here's the email I sent her.

Hey man, I'm geologist. ***? just because she's into rocks doesn't mean that she can't be informed (or misinformed for that matter) on any number of issues. That she is a geologist isn't the reason she's misinformed nor is the fact that she's a professor (it doesn't help but that's beside th point). They're fewer and further between but there are some professors, even geology professors, who are very pro-2A.

The problem with University faculty is that they're university faculty. A good many of them retreated to academia after the real world slapped them around a bit. Either that or they're perpetual grad students who never saw the real world except for an internship or two.

But don't let your hatred for rock jocks blind you to the fact that you're about to send a fairly rude email to a woman you don't even know and who doesn't know you. I can tell you for near certain that telling her to get educated before she keeps spreading lies isn't going to win your arguement with her.

In fact you're more likely to drive her further into her corner of anti-gunnyism with that dose of vinegar. Maybe try using a little more ethos or logos and quit with the pathos..

Edit: OMG, I just read post #23.. holy #@$^!! despite the gender-bending though, I still say that the prejudice to women, geologists or even trans-sexuals (God, please let that be the last time I use those three words in a sentence) is detracting from your credibility. If the person is truely ignorant, insulting them into submission might not be the tact you'd find most effective. On the other hand, if the person is a dedicated anti-gun advocate, your time may well be spent seeking more fertile ground to grow your tree of knowledge..

The news segment under discussion is two years old. I'd say it's time to let it go.
