I'll throw out a warning before I get started, if you are triggered by "tactical" type 10/22's, look away. I put together rifles like this for after dark pest control and in that role (among others) they do very well. They're not traditional but every part serves a function and is a result of about 18yrs of trial and error. Not for larping as part of MEAL Team Six.
Been posting pics of my "tactical 2.0" in the hunting section with some critters to its credit. I put it together a couple years ago as sort of a test mule for different ideas. Decided to kinda/sorta finalize its configuration and needed to make some changes. Had also been eyeballing this new "collectors edition" model and the local shop had one. Snagging it would provide the motivation and some parts to get it all done. Couple others that I also wanted to make some changes on.
To start, here's the new collectors model, picked it up this afternoon. For me it's 10/22 #12, including 4 Chargers, a Bergara and a couple aftermarket receivers. I liked this one for the Magpul stock, factory BX trigger, integrated peep/rail sights and stainless barrel. Don't care too much for the red parts. I envisioned it for an all weather utility rifle to replace one I wasn't satisfied with, mostly because it wasn't threaded. That's where I get the black receiver later. Maybe now I'll do another paracord sling for it.
After a stock change and some parts swapping, here it is. For right now, it just wears the SIG red dot that its predecessor wore. Silver bolt came from the parts box and I replaced the bolt handle with the Superior Concepts handle from 2.0. Didn't feel like doing the trigger. The Magpul stock will probably end up on my Bergara BXR.
Tactical 2.0 was built on a silver receiver and trigger group with a TacSol SBX barrel and Tapco/B5 stock. It has a Vortex Spitfire 5x and a Fastfire in a 45° mount, along with the Streamlight HPL. The laser is just for farting around. It had a standard charging handle and spring, so I couldn't get it to run reliably on subs and that was a major reason for its remodel. Never bothered to take any pics by itself.
While I was at it, I figured I'd give it a proper black receiver and the black finished bolt with the 60th anniversary logo pilfered from the collector model. Had a KIDD bolt handle and spring set laying around, so I set it up with the medium spring. Decided to switch to the AR mount for the Spitfire and see how I like it.
This one was pilfered for parts. We robbed the stock for the Collectors model and the black receiver for Tactical 2.0. Barrel and Nodak peep/rail are now available for something else.
