Just moved to Brighton (Adams County) from Katy, TX. I have a TX CHL and want to get a CO CCW. My question is concerning the proof of class within the last 10 years. Would my TX CHL be considered proof? Am I going to have to dig thru boxes in the basement for the copy of my CHL class/range qualifying? Should I just take a CO class?

Thanks in advance for any advice/answers,
Robert ;)

Would my TX CHL be considered proof?

Yes, it should be, assuming you took the required Texas course within the past ten years. Colorado law requires "evidence of safety training" within the past ten years.

That said™, if your local sheriff's department wants to quibble, you may end up having to take a course. I'd check before spending money.

Course recommendation

Should I just take a CO class?

Sherob, if you'd like a recommendation for a Denver area class, please send me a private message. I just finished an excellent course today.

Get on the internet and do a string search for the Adam's County Sheriff's Office. All the offices have a link to CCW info. There should also be contact info for the person in charge of CCW's for the county. If you are in Adans County, you will need a CCW... There is tons of instructors out there too if you need a class. Very easy info to find on the net.

Thanks guys! I'll go by the SO tomorrow and ask in person... gotta check about getting my bike licensed here anyway
