Colt Gold Cup Issue

Just received a 70 series Gold Cup. I fired a few rounds this weekend and took it home to field strip and clean it.

After reassembly, I noticed that the hammer will fall if I pull the trigger WITHOUT depressing the grip safety. Thumb safety works fine.

I did not check this function before the cleaning so I don't know if it was doing this before or after the field strip/clean.

Any suggestions? Is this an easy fix??

This could be a number of things, probably NOT related to your reassembly.

Check the sear spring leg that powers the grip safety, to insure the spring is pushing the grip safety out.
In other words, when you push the grip safety IN then release it, the grip safety should pop back out.

It's most likely that the grip safety is defective.

Did you detail strip or field strip? Did you remove the sear spring? Sounds like one of the legs is under the sear instead of lying on top of it?

All I did was field strip and clean. Not detail strip.
