I just came into a 1921 Colt Police Positive 38 special. It has a split grip (black plastic) grip. Does anyone know of a source for these? I am new here and haven't found my way around yet.
The grips are actually made of hard "Gutta Percha" rubber, which looks like modern plastic.
Originals are hard to come by, but turn up on Ebay from time to time.
Note that originals are bad about breaking and shrinking so watch for damage if you buy originals.
I have one of those made in 1932. It has wood medallion grips. Are they original or are they replacements? This gun is very tight and has about 95% original finish. Good shooter.
