I don't own a Sigma but I had the same concerns as you do about the trigger and I set out to find out for myself and have shot at least four of them in both 9mm and .40 and I actually really like the trigger. It is a little stiff but it is nice and consistent and all the ones I shot were nearly brand new with less than 100 rounds through them so its not like it took a lot of breaking in. Don't worry about finger fatigue with the DAO trigger tho because its really not that bad. Plus if you can afford to shoot ALL DAY than you can afford to buy a much more expensive gun anyway haha. They are also a very reliable gun and honestly nearly an exact copy of a glock internally. Get a good inner waistband holster cause just like gearjammer said you can carry anything pretty easily. Yes you will probably have to switch to a lg shirt and actually have to be aware of it and make sure your not showing but that is the case with pretty much any gun, even a little tiny glock or snubnose. Pick one up at the gun store and dry fire it and see if you like it! For $299 with a $50 rebate or 2 extra magazines its a helluva deal!

thanks guys, I went to the gun store and checked out both the sigma and the p95, I gotta say I am more comfortable with the P95, even though S&W has a heck of deal for the sigma, I just do not like the trigger on it at all, way too heavy for me. I will test fire the P95 before I make my final decision. But here is a new question. My local dealer said that the lowest they will go is 355 for a new P95 plus two extra magazines for the gun. so around 380 for the entire thing. Is that a reasonable price for it with the extra mags and all?

Hey check out gunbroker.com. Right now sovereign guns has got a couple runnin $289.99. With shipping and a FFL transfer it will end up bein about 345-350 depending on how much your FFL charges you. If its important for you to buy it local than that's reasonable though.

Yes, that's a good price. Have you gone to McBrides?

Out of left field, go by Academy. For some reason they have the best prices on certain pistols. For example, they have the Beretta PX4 Storm (an outstanding DA/SA 9mm) for $519.00, which is about $80.00 less than other stores and even less than Bud's Gun Shop.

I haven't gone to McBrides, the reason is that almost everything I've read about them indicate that they are more expensive and usually have rude customer service. I've been going to Texguns, that's their price. I called Heritage firearms and found out I could buy a P95 for 299 over there. However, Texguns guy told me that if anything is wrong with the guy, he'll take care of the shipping and all that for no charge. I'm willing to spend more money to support a local small business, so I probably won't buy at Academy. What do you think of heritage TexasBill? or any other shops I should be aware of? Thanks

IS this a carry gun, or first gun?

Look locally to see if you can find the pistols you are thinking about and get hands on them to see how they feel, try it in a holster at the shop before you buy, if you look, there should be some nice 3rd gen S&W at about 300 -400 as a bunch of police trade ins just hit the market, also, EAA witness, is the same gun as a CZ 75, but it's a licensed copy made by an Italian company, Same for the Taurus, Brazillian licensed copies of Beretta, as are Stoger (Turkey, made on Beretta's equipment), If you can find a Stoger PX, CX? storm, I have heard nothing but good reviews and about $100 less than a Beretta.

Finally, let me end where I started, if your going to carry it every day, do the research and find a setup (rig) that you are comfortable with, cause it don't do you any good if you left it at home. Me, I have some nice guns that I just don't carry much because:
1. I live in a pretty nice, safe, part of the country
2. I have a pocket gun that is just easier to slip in a pocked and forget about
3. The pocket gun is less likely to be noticed by the wife, and that saves me nagging
4. I really don't like IWB much, but I'm not to the point where I carry OWB, and I haven't gotten a shoulder holster yet, either.

It is what you are comfortable with, what you are willing to put on every day, and that is what matters. If you're a 7" 1911 in super 38 sorta person, rock it, if you're a .380 pocket mouse type guy, then rock it. Find what you like.

Not to be rude, but I think what you heard about McBride's is incorrect. Their prices are on the high side sometimes, but I have never received anything but excellent customer service when I have visited. Admittedly, they are very popular, so getting to talk to someone does sometimes take a minute, but once you have their attention, they are very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend that you check them out for yourself. I have seen a few respectable deals from them, and they have sales on different products quite often.

BTW, I just graduated from UT, it is always good to see other Longhorns. Hook 'em.

thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it. This would be a carry gun, guess the first gun that I purchased, too. I have a revolver that my family gifted me but I don't plan on carrying it. I wanted something inexpensive and reliable, so far the P95 is it, I've gone to a few gun stores and handled the gun, I just do not like the sigma's trigger. And hmphargh, thanks for your post, I went to McBrides today and they gave me very good service considering how busy they were. Congrats on graduating from UT man, I love it here. Right now I am between buying the gun from McBrides or from Tex, here's the only noticeable difference between the two:
Tex guns cost 50 bucks more for the same P95. However, they said that if it ever needs to be shipped to the factory for anything they will cover the cost of shipping, which McBrides would not do. I don't know if that should be enough for me to buy from Tex. I am right now leaning on buying from McBrides, and that's too bad because I do like the guys and the service that I've gotten from Texguns. If the price difference was less I'd definitely buy from Tex, but $50 on a $300 gun is a little too much. What do yall think?

Everyone here keep in mind this new friend of ours is in Austin, TX, where the average temperature in the summer is about 105-110 degrees. He's going to need something that will be concealable under a t-shirt. Lots of folks like Kahrs, but I agree, for first gun, go with the big names. Glock 26 and S&W M&P9c are concealable, accurate, fun, and super reliable. I'd go with the M&P, but that's just me.
