Compact rifle scope

currently using a Burris 2-7 compact in my 338 and I'm looking for a replacement Burris is no longer supporting this scope which bums me out ..... I'm looking for a smaller Somali optic similar zoom range but a premium product any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Price isn't really a concern this is my fav rifle and my go to rifle if I could only own one and as trivial as this sound the price of the 1x scopes don't bother me I hate the small front objective unless it's a true dangerous game rifle

But it seems like nobody wants to make a compact scope anymore. I have one of those Burris Timberline 2-7X26 scopes and the size is awesome. Optically it does not as good as some of the larger Scopes though.

Im not much a leupold guy, but ive got a 2-7x33 VX-Freedom, and would happily recommend that scope. I liked the one I got originally on a replacement so much i bought another....which i didnt need lol
The Vx-3i, would be a very good choice, it seems smaller and lighter than many scopes of similar power just because it dosent have a big occular which most do.

Hard to go wrong with the leupold vx 2x7x33 freedom. I have 2... maybe 3, I'm not sure. From the vx1 to the rifleman to the freedom. Whatever leupold calls them now they are rugged, light and handy. Never had an issue.

One is mounted on a ruger American compact. Another on an American ranch and another up until recently on a Winchester feather weight. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if needed.

I'm pretty much set on a leupold and currently have a couple and very pleased with them both vx3 3.5-10 , 2.5-8 and a 4x rim fire , after reading your suggestions does anyone have any experience with the vxr 2-7 ?

I have a VX-R 2-7x33 and believe it’s an excellent scope.

Many excellent suggestions above. I would stay away from any Somali optics. Aside from the potential to run afoul of sanctions, I am unaware of a single Somali manufacturer that would merit further investigation.

I have two Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36 scopes, one each on my Ruger No. 1 and one on my Ruger M77RSI. They are short, light, have excellent glass, and suffice for any shot out to 300 yards, which is my personal limit for these rifles.

My experiences with 30 years worth of Leupold 2x7 scopes has been uniformly positive. The first “real” scope I ever bought was a Leupold 2x7 in 1988 and it’s still going strong on my Savage 10 MLII.
