A 1911 thread with a twist. Now that Ruger has joined the ranks of the 1911 makers, what major semi auto makers do not make a 1911 (or at least put their name on one). Also which of those companies do you want to see make one and which do you think would have the most sucess based on name only. So far I have:

Beretta
Walther
glock
HK
FN

I would love to see a Beretta 1911. I'd also like to see them make a 10mm "92" style.
(They'd have to replace the frame with steel instead of aluminum.
But I'd definitely like a 1911 from them.

I wonder if Glock will release the first polymer 1911.

they have been made before, and somone (Rock River I think) is releasing one soon (or may be out already)

EDIT to add, it looks like Kimber and Wilson have made them in the past

I'd be interested in seeing the H&K 1911 that they designed with the help of Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn. I understand why they decided not to produce it, but I think it would sell pretty well

They did a study of what features an ideal combat 1911 would have, then looked at how to produce it using modern manufacturing methods and to H&K standards, then they looked at the production cost and what they would have to sell it for to make a reasonable profit...and finally they looked at the potential pool of customer they could hope would buy it.

That is when they decided not to build it. There wasn't a large enough demand for them to recover their production cost and make a profit.

That is when they designed the HK45 as a update/replacement for the USP 45

I don't think it did, and the only pictures of it that I know of are in the book mentioned in that thread.

The pictures found on search engines like google all seem to be of blank firing pistols, and not of the actual Walther Big Bore.
