Every hunter deserves a well-fitting rifle with great stock shape and recoil pad. I hardly notice recoil when shooting at quarry. Bench shooting, yes, because we're leaning-in and our body can't flex backward from recoil as well as when shooting offhand or taking various field positions. I don't recall any pain from shooting at game, recoil...yes, but not painful recoil...and I used to use a .30-06 for prone shots on varmints.

Good luck! We look forward to the results!

Actual field results:
Hornady Custom Lites 7mm-08 120g SST
Spiked Whitetail broadside 75 yds
First shot hit front side of left front leg, broke some ribs both sides and lodged under skin on far side. Deer walked 10 feet and laid down in the grass. I gave it a minute and it stood up. I put 1 through the lungs and it dropped right there! Bullet lodged just under the skin on the far side 20211130_134705.jpg
First time afield with this caliber and cartridge. Shorter distance after hit than my 12 ga. Slug gun. Little to no blood.
Lesson: make your shot a good one in the wheel house to stop it .
I was a little surprised First shot didn't knock it down on the spot being only 75 yds out.
Score 9 good balance of killing power and virtually no recoil.

Im sure many others can also input on this but I've noticed that the sst bullet performs better out of lower velocity for caliber applications as they expand rather violently. It seems like a great choice for low recoil "Reduced loads" in this application.

When I used this ammo a couple years ago I didn’t get much blood, but the deer didn’t go to far after the shot. I did shoot some of the stuff before the season to compare with others. Paying close attention to recoil this time because of the posts here, I think it does have a little less recoil. It did group very nice.
