So, with all sorts of hunting (except for small game) done and not a whole lot else to do I was hoping to get into some competition shooting.

From my knowledge about what is what, it seems as though things along the lines of IDPA, practical rifle, and shillouette shooting are right up my alley.

I was wondering if any of you in the competitive circuit could point me in the right direction or at least point out something close that I could give a try at.

Thanks in advance!

For IDPA, it looks like the closest place for you is here at the one just north of Ft. Collins. I've been there ~1/2 dozen times. They are very friendly there and you'd have a great time. I live in the northern Denver suburb of Westminster and the trip has always been worth it for me. Your WY choices seem to be either Casper or Jackson.

The best route I could find for you involved about 40-45 mi and taking about an hour. Cf. I-25 and the Buckeye Rd exit for starters to get there.

The USPSA shooters that I know in Cheyenne head south. Take a look at the club in Weld County.

I've been off the ISPSA circuit for several years. 5-6 years ago, there were regular matches at Aurora Gun Club, Weld County (as noted above, the closest to Cheyenne), Idaho Springs area, and Boulder Gun Club. Check the USPSA webpage. I can't because my system administrator blocked firearms sites.
