OK, I've got to go to a black tie dinner next week, it's downtown Houston, won't end until midnight, they have valet car parking. How do you think I should carry?

Inside the cumberbun with a .40 Cal. BHP
Shoulder holster with Bersa .380
Ankle holster with Beretta or Browning .25

No pocket carry? That would be my first choice. It's faster than any of the other 3 options, IMHO, and you can take you jacket off.

But of the three, BHP in cumberbun. If you're gonna carry, make it a serious caliber. And a GREAT pistol design! :)

I'd probably go with pocket carry too, but there's something timeless and elegant about a shoulder holster in formal wear. In this particular case, you get to move up in caliber too, and since you'll likely be sitting for a portion of the evening, the Bersa will likely be more comfortable as well.

You shouldn't be removing your coat so shoulder should be fine, but if theres a chance of dancing with some nice lady she might feel something a bit off...

And I hope you don't mind, but its a pet peeve of mine, the word is cummerbund and is in no way related to the cucumber.

Shoulder holster. Just don't go off your rocker and start talking with a fake Scottish accent and asking for your martinis shaken, not stirred...

eye of the beholder

None of the above; take a look at forum -handguns:autoloaders>38 super 1911 by "cocked & locked" >the Rock Is. Armory pistol.

You may want to get next day shipment before you go.

The overcoat could conceal just about anything, really. I'd be prefectly comfortable packing my Glock 17 in my Galco COP 3-way belt slide at 4:30 with the two-magazine pouch at 7:00. Just ask for the coat to be slightly baggy around the waist. Nobody will really notice the slight irregularity.

Marki(psycho)Phipps( HAHAHA! )

I believe in packing serious calibers. If you want to pocket carry consider investing in a Kahr PM40. I find it a great mix of power and size.

If it won't be too uncomfortable I'd go with the 40 BHP plan B would be both the other guns (380 and 25)

KL Null inverted vertical shoulder rig for the BHP. Because is has to disappear under forbal attire - so it's absolutely worth it, especially in a high profile goblin fantasy situation.

BUG would be a given, ankle.

Good luck!

BHP all the way. Elegant, classic pistol for the same type of night. I enjoy the same type of thing when I do Chris-Lukes in Jax (BE 9mm in a leather shoulder rig under a nice Itialian suit) . The upscale resturant is in semi-bad part of town and the rig really fills out the outfit.

Formal dress is the reason I bought a shoulder holster.

I carry a 1911 and 2 mags in the thing and under the jacket no one is the wiser.

It's extremely comfortable and I get a full size weapon, no compromise.

Also great for extended time in the car.

There was a thread a week or so ago that someone started inquiring about white gun finishes to match white dress undershirts. Old Fuff explained that it wasn't such a crazy idea and that some British agents - can't remember if it was MI-5/6, SAS, or other - were issued hardchromed pistols with pearl grips and white leather shoulder rigs for blending into formal dress occasions. I think you need a hardchromed BHP in the right caliber - 9mm - or a like finished 1911 in 45 ACP or 38 Super. Then get a good saddle shop in Houston to dye the shoulder rig for it to a nice dress white. Gotta go all the way.

I'd think the shoulder holster, as long as you don't need to take off your jacket. Otherwise, pocket carry.

For formal, or business, or even business casual, ankle is the way to go. If you get a good rig you don't have to constrain yourself to mouse guns either. Keep an extra mag in your pocket and your good to go. You don't have to worry about printing, or taking your jacket off, or someone pressing up aginst you.

I would go with the shoulder holster. Since it is a black tie affair I doubt you will be taking off your jacket. I have a nice comfortable one for my Makarov that is great for such things.

Hmmm...if it were ME, (as in me and MY guns...)

First choice would either be my G19 in an IWB rig (since shoulder holster is an option, I assume your tux coat ain't going nowhere) or my P3AT in the front pocket - depends on the fit of the coat and/or pocket.

Though of the options....what the hey, if I had a quality shoulder rig and someplace to wear a tux (or even a nice suit!) to, I don't think I could resist packing MY Bersa .380 under my left armpit at least once! :D

Now, I hate to again reveal my noob-ness, but what exactly IS a "BHP?"

My vote went for the Bersa in a shoulder holster.
This option would give the best concealment provided you don't take your jacket off later on. Nice light gun too.
