Hey all... I was wondering what your preferred carry method is for a motorcycle. I figure that anything on the waist might show if you lean too much... or it could possibly vibrate out? (if you're using those paddle holsters) I considered a shoulder holster, but if you were to wreck- wouldn't it cause a whole lot of damage to your ribs?

Thanks for the posts (in advance)

Ninja,

While I don't ride a motorcycle anymore, what I would use is a strong side holster and tuck the bottom of whatever over garment I'm wearing under the holster to hold it in place. That will keep the wind from blowing it up and revealing the holster.

Riding

I ride a HD, so more upright position. When I ride I carry a kel-tec p3at in a pocket holster inside my vest or leather jacket pocket. When wearing a T I uas an IWB holster that covers and conceals.

I also carry in a Fobus KT32 paddle holster. Fits well very secure and allows for a tail to be tucked up under the holster. The holster is made of Kydex and provides a good clamping action on the garment.

I carry my P2000sk in a Milt Sparks "executive companion", reverse weak side. This places the butt forward.

I always ride with a leather riding jacket, so the wind causing my shirt to flap isn't a problem.

Gottcha. You know that's a thread we need to start... post pics of your ride and your weapon of choice. (Funny, I'm guessing there'd be a lot of wranglers and motorcycles.) <I've got them too>

I keep my Taurus 450 on my left ankle and a 380 or 38 snubbie in my vest or jacket pocket on longer trips. Sometimes I have an extra in a "hidden" place on the scoot.

Biker

I carry strong side owb. I have no problems. Usually wearing colors.

Biker got any trips planned for this year yet? Are you redoing your scoot?

Yup. We tore down the engine to check 'er out and all we need to do is re-ring the pistons and hone the jugs, this after 6 years on the last rebuild and a billion miles (gotta love 57 year ol' Harleys) and we're painting.
Got a few trips planned but most of all, Sturgis.
You?

Biker

Winter: Shoulder Holster
Summer: IWB Strong Side - shirt untucked except over right hip to keep the wind from blowing it up around my chest.

The only downside to this is if one needs to draw while on the bike. Can't be done with the right hand and still maintain throttle control.

Biker,
Trying to plan a trip to Big Bear, CA. We are thinking of stopping in Las Vagas.
Trying to figure out how to carry in CA. Any ideas?

IWB at 12 O'clock or in jacket pocket (if I'm wearing one). I am uneasy about my normal 4 O'clock carry on the bike. Most of the time in the summer, I ride in jeans and a Tee shirt, so it's usually my P3AT.

And please all, spare me the lectures about helmets and such. IMO, the point of riding is to feel your atmosphere. Protective gear numbs the experience.

I always ride with club colors on my vest. .38 snubby is inside pocket weak side. The Stoeger Cougar will be somewhere close by in the event I have to make a quick stop. A modified windsheild bag may be in the works.

I'm not sure of the link, but I've seen CCW motorcycle coat and vests. There was a black leather one that looked like a cruiser would wear, and another that was a sport bike coat. Try Googling them.

Black sleeveless T with a double quilted pocket sewn in under my left arm pit down 4" with a flat nylon strap that goes over the shoulder to keep the left side from sagging.
The pocket was cut to fit my Kimber Eclipse.
Very comfortable. Covered by a lite shirt or jacket as the weather requires.
Very easy to remove quickly.

In real cold weather, same type of pocket was sewn into my left inside leather jacket resting flat against my chest. Again easy to get to and remove with a slight opening of the jacket zipper.

Ease of removal is important on a bike without generating any extreme movements to keep control of the bike at highway speeds when someone tries to use you as a cue ball.

I haven't ridden motorcycles for years, but what I did then was put the handgun in a tank bag or saddlebag for riding, then transfer it to a body-carried holster when dismounted. I can think of few situations where you would want to shoot while actually riding - but if you do it would be more accessible in a tank bag - and would rather not have a hard object on my body in the event of a crash.

For me the only answer I've ever needed for riding was a shoulder holster. I usually wear it on top of my Tshirt and under any outer wear. The gun is protected and it can't come out without me instantly knowing about it.

Oh, and it's already pre-aimed at the ******* who's following too close behind me. :D

I usually ankle carry while riding, but I've also carries strong side OWB and IWB. My only wreck occured while carrying owb in a new bladetech holster. It survived with a few "character marks" and saved me some road rash on my hip.

If you are riding upright, you may want to consider appendix carry.

Harley rider

I ride a Harley -

on longer / cooler rides, both my leather jackets have inside pockets that fit my j frame in a pocket holster perfectly - or my compact Kimber.

In hot weather I have a nice cowhide vest (can also be worn under the above jackets) that has so many nice pockets I can carry several guns!

If it is a hot day and short ride, jeans and sleeveless shirt type, the Keltec P3AT in pocket holster or ankle holster.
