concealed carry to and from car storage

So I'm finally doing my CHL class in a couple of weeks so I've been thinking a lot on the subject. With some of the legislation coming up in Texas I was thinking how great it will be if it passes so that employers can't keep you from having a handgun in your car on their property.

So on to my actual question.. or actually request for tips and advice of those that have been carrying regulary how do you manage to transfer your handgun from personal concealment to where ever you are stashing it away in your car? obviously tinted windows help and if you are on an empty lot you're pretty safe. Magical hankie to keep it covered? lol

Additionally what options are out there as far as auto strongboxes go? I mean if somebody wants whatever is in it they'll get it, but just talking about keeping out the cd and checkbook theives here..

I enter the car, I close the door, I leave the light out while I open the glove compartment door, I pick up the map on the passenger side seat, I use it to cover the glove box opening, I pull the pistol from my waistband, I move it under the map and into the glove box, I close and lock the glove box door, I drop the map, I exit the car, I close and lock the door.
