I'm 73. I've owned both long guns and handguns since I was 15 years old. I've never had a concealed carry permit because I never felt the need. Over the past couple of years I've thought several times that maybe I should go ahead and get a permit. Not really because I feel the need right now but because the way things are going I may change my mind later or "If for no other reason" if I came across a really good deal to buy a handgun I would not have to wait to get a purchase permit. My problem is =. I have never been arrested for anything. Never been charged with any crime. Never been accused of any crime what so ever. (Except speeding ticket or two). Never had my fingerprints taken for any reason. I don't think it's right to have to give my fingerprints to get concealed carry permit without at least some suspicion, some reason to think I'm not who I say I am. Dumb??? You have a right to be silent even if accused of a crime. A right to innocent untill proven guilty. A right not to testify against yourself. What's the difference in taking your fingerprints if not even suspected of doing anything wrong. Dumb??? I don't know. Just don't seem right to me and I can't get by that.
