Considering a Hi-point

i got my extra mags at a gun show. one for $10 and one for $8. and there is a sight rail that comes with it. stop beating around the bush and go bring one home.

After I sent in my used $120 carbine to the factory, it has been dead-nuts reliable and really accurate considering it's a handgun caliber. Once I sight in my cheap red dot, typically I can hit a hanging bowling pin at 100 yards without too much drama.

Ugly? Well...that's in the eye of the beholder. I happen to think it's a badass looking piece, cheap or not. If all guns were pretty, things would be boring.

One word of caution, I think the last owner didn't lubricate the internals whatsoever, and the zinc slide material wore down rapidly due to that. Just spray in some CLP or something and call it good.

Don't overlook the earlier mention of stellar customer service. I bought a 9 that was, at best, fair condition. I didn't pay much, so I figured why not. I was thoroughly impressed with the function and accuracy. I did not get the scope mount (buying it used), so I called the factory to order one. Very polite, got all of my info, and said one was on it's way. I asked for the bill- no charge. The person just told me to tell all of my friends. I can't say that I've ever encountered that type of customer service before. Is it cheap-yes. Is it ugly-oh yeah. But it works. Every time. I've bought guns with ponies on them that didn't do that.

That is a GREAT little rifle!!! :what:
And come on guys..... UGLY??? It looks like a STORMTROOPER's rifle for cryin out loud!!!!

I have owned one in 9mm for several years, and am planning on getting one in 40 as soon as I can afford it... :D

I think that Dunham's Sporting Goods here in the midwest is selling them for around $160 this week.

Hmmm...I'll stop in at my local Dunham's and take a peek. Certainly not the most AP {Aesthetically Pleasing} pistol-caliber carbine out there, but a large percentage of owners rate them highly. And USA made, too...Dayton, Ohio. Nothing like supporting companies in your home state!

My brother has a 9mm that he bought used.
He loves it.

I wasn't too impressed with the trigger, and it was ugly, but you can't beat the price new, and used prices are a real bargain.

I had the jones bad for a while.
I finally called the factory, and asked the nice lady if they had considered redesigning the stock, or giving the gun a facelift.
When she said "No" her tone of voice implied that I had just asked if she had ever been abducted by aliens. :what:

A carbine with 4 or 5 loaded mags in a carry case would make an excellent "truck" or "trunk" gun.
And, if it was stolen, you wouldn't be out much at all.

Ugly as they are, the stock "works" very well and the one I played with was a natural pointer.

I just wish they would clean up some of the rough edges, I think a general smoothing of things would go a ways towards improving the overall appearance
