Will this buying panic chill out in the next few weeks as orders are filled? It's practically impossible to find an AK, AR, or magazines for the 2. You think everybody or almost everybody who wants one has an order in? Or are we going to have to deal with 0 inventory for a much longer period.

I'm not in dire need of another scary rifle, but knowing I can't get one makes me want one. I'll just feel better knowing they are there. :)

I hope it calms down. I don't need one and I certainly dont want to pay inflated panic prices, but I'd like to buy more just because they are fun.
I'm trying to remember...was there this much of a pre-ban buying frenzy before the clinton ban in 94? I remember how prices shot up when it went into effect but would we be seeing the same kind of action if that ban had not taken place? There hasn't even been anything introduced and people are acting like if they don't get an "assault weapon" today they never will.

Methinks the rush is on to stay; as people get more $$$, the more they're going to spend on EBRs and the like. People aren't keeping their heads in the sand this time 'round, and see the writing on the wall.

No, not to this extent. People weren't as widely aware of it and the implications of it. Remember, folks hadn't seen anything like it before, but now they're more aware of the possibility.

Which hopefully translates into a stronger defense if/when they try to pull it again.

(read: keep your legislators on speed dial)

The attitude that started this buying frenzy is all wrong. Right now the attitude is selfish. "As long as I have x gun I will be happy."

Instead, we need to call our congresspeople and senators. This has the possibility to protect everybody's rights.

When people realize that this isn't the first thing Obama/Pelosi/Reid is going to work on Jan 2nd 2008 things should slow down. It will take at least a month to get this passed. The ecomonmy, alternate energy & health care the priorities. It's a panic, people will realize their worries are unfounded.
