I even made a promise to myself that I was done buying for a while. On Saturday my girlfriend and I decided to ride down to the beach for a spur of the moment trip to get some good food and just chill out. As we approached the beach she decided she wanted to stop at good size Pawn Shop that has a huge jewelry selection. Still no danger as their gun prices are always high, but of course I had to look. As I was looking over the few revolvers, the manager and I got to talking. He made the comment of how he missed the old days when people liked to bargain for deals in cash. Now everyone wants a steep discount and then pulls out plastic. There goes 4% of his profit. I then spotted 2 Colts. Normally not a Colt man but I do like anything pretty and at the right price. I then responded that I was going to take him back in time and I did want a deal and it would be cash! We haggled longer than I normally would but I really wanted to call his bluff. He finally caved and I left with a nice Trooper MK lll in .22 LR and a Lawman Mk lll in .357 that looks almost new except for turn line. I know the Lawman doesn’t have the biggest fan base like Pythons and Troopers but it’s beautiful and what the hell, you don’t see a really nice Colt Snubby every day. My weak promise lasted almost a week.

See that's why you just need to drive a block or two out of your way to avoid the gun store. Just like an alcoholic needs to avoid bars and liquor stores. If you go inside you are going to buy. I consider it a victory every time I can force my weak self to drive on by a gun store. But I still fail from time to time.

Sometimes I wonder if I don't enjoy the hunt and negotiating as much as owning and shooting the darn things. I love to trade with individuals as well. Sometimes it works out great if you have a gun that you aren't shooting much or just don't particular like it and can work a trade with someone in the same boat. Everyone walks away happy. There is no cure for the disease. Every now and then I'll convince myself that I have too many that I'm not shooting very much so I'll trim the herd knowing in the back of my mind that I'm getting rid of some just so I can bring in some new ones to play with. Its a crazy circle but still better than the old days when I would hang out in bars 4-5 nights a week.

Normally I would recommend you get some sort of professional help but I can see you're way beyond that now with your latest acquisitions! Had a Trooper Mk.III many moons ago (was my first .357), and it was built like a tank. Love the Lawman Mk.III snubby as well; kind of reminds me of one of those British Bulldog revolvers.

Oh yeah, nice finds (especially for a couple of Colts), too!

Nice finds, indeed particularly the Trooper!
I'm having the more frustrating version: The guns are popping up all over, and I don't have the money yet. Looking for a Trap gun, and many that fit my criteria are available at good prices, and I will be using my tax return to buy one.

I have passed on a few good deals as of late ... Seems my extra gun money has been going for such useless things , such as a new refrigerator and leaf blower .... !

I still found a pistol that was on my wish list , a S&W 3913 LS

Nice!

Not a big fan of the sintered internals on the MK3s- Ive personally seen two with cracked triggers and parts are hard to come by. Both were .357 Troopers, which is why I held out for a 1st Gen. Trooper.....

I would still have a hard time passing on that .22 though, its a beauty. Hopefully yours will give you many years of good service.

I've been told before that I was beyond professional help many times. Most recently by my girlfriend and it was for something not even gun related, but she chooses to stay with me so who is really the crazy one here? I'm not one that is known for his daily good luck, so I'm going to enjoy this little run I'm on. Its got to end soon or I'll be having to finance my finds!!
